Patrick Kane would gladly welcome signing a contract extension with the Chicago Blackhawks.

That should come as no surprise. Kane and Jonathan Toews have one year left on their respective contract and the Blackhawks have made signing them to extensions their top off-season priority. "I know we both love it here in Chicago, love playing here and having the chance to win every year," said Kane. Agent Pat Brisson represents both players and Chicago GM Stan Bowman is excited to start the negotiation process.

Chicago owns a 12-2 record in Games 6 or 7 during the careers of Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews.

Kane has been very productive over that span with nine goals and 17 points. "You try to take it upon yourself to try and step up in big situations," he said. "But we have a lot of guys that do that. I think with our team and the amount of great players that are on it, it seems like everyone has their time to step up and have the spotlight and be in that moment. There's been numerous guys that have done it. When it's your turn, it's always fun to contribute." The Patricks, Kane and Sharp, are going to have to start scoring if the Blackhawks are going to defend their Stanley Cup title.

Kane has scored only one goal in Chicago's last seven games, while Sharp has scored only twice in the Hawks' 14 playoff games to date. We believe it is only a matter of time before these two bulge the twine more regularly; however a shift of Michal Handzus off their unit could only hasten the rebound.
