Evander Kane LW WPG 5 Days

Kane scored on a power play and added an even-strength assist Tuesday in a 5-1 win over Buffalo.

He'd gone three straight without registering on the scoresheet, hitting a particularly low low Saturday, when he didn't put a shot on goal and went minus-3 in a loss to Anaheim, but Kane and the Jets bounced back nicely in this one. However, his offensive output remains disappointing -- the No. 4 pick from 2009's draft has only 12 points in 22 games, a pace that lags well behind his production from the last few seasons.

Kane recorded seven hits, but no shots in Saturday's return from suspension. He was also minus-2 in a 4-1 loss to the Ducks.

He's on pace for his worst full-season production since his rookie season in Atlanta (excluding the lockout year, of course). This forgetable season just keeps getting worse, but who knows -- maybe this last suspension might bring him some perspective. OK -- that is delusional, isn't it? He needs to be benched until he figures this out.

Kane has completed his two-game suspension and will be eligible to play Saturday against the Ducks.

Kane received the two-game ban for boarding the Ducks' Clayton Stoner last Sunday. The 23-year-old has four goals, 10 points and 44 PIM over 20 games on the season.

The NHL Department of Player Safety has suspended Kane for two games for boarding Ducks defenseman Clayton Stoner.

Kane is not a repeat offender, but the distance he travelled to hit Stoner, and the fact that Stoner was turned around the entire time earned Kane the two games. He'll be eligible to return for Saturday's game when the Jets take on the Ducks again.

Kane scored two power-play goals -- one into an empty net -- and collected two PIM in Tuesday's win over the Jackets.

While it's been a quiet start to the year for Kane, he's been warming up a little lately, having notched five points in his last six games now.

Kane added his second goal of the year in Sunday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Wild.

Kane has gotten off to a slow start in the points department, but he now has two in the past two days. The goals should start to come as he's shooting at just a 5.5% clip, well below his career average.

Kane scored his first goal of the year -- and the 100th of his career -- while adding an assist and seven PIM in Thursday's shootout loss to the Penguins.

That's a Gordie Howe hat trick for Kane, who fired up the crowd in Winnipeg by beating down the Pens' Simon Despres, but it wasn't enough in the end. With three points in the last two games, Kane is starting to turn things on after going scoreless in his first four contests since returning from the knee injury that kept him out to start the year.

Kane scored the game-winning goal in the shootout in a 1-0 win over the Rangers on Saturday night.

It was a beauty of a shot that went high blocker and in. Henrik Lundqvist got a bit of it, but it was moving too fast. The Jets need him to start putting up points and this is a nice start.

Kane (knee) contributed no points and attempted three shots in his return to action Thursday against the Devils.

It was probably unrealistic for Kane to deliver immediately upon returning from an injury that knocked him out of action for two weeks, and the Jets were likely just happy that the forward made it through the contest without any setbacks. He saw 17:07 worth of ice time while skating on the second line with Blake Wheeler and Mark Scheifele.

Coach Paul Maurice said Kane (knee) is progressing well and could begin skating before the end of the week, Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg Sun reports.

The Jets likely won't have a definitive timetable on Kane until after he starts taking part in practices in some capacity, but an early- to mid-November return would seem realistic at this time. The winger was set to play a vital role for the Jets on the second line to open the season, before he suffered the knee injury after just 1:24 of action in the team's first game.
