Nazem Kadri collected three assists in Thursday's 6-3 win over Florida.

"It's probably the best game he has played in a long time," coach Randy Carlyle said. "And it was at both ends of the rink ... He was distributing the puck, he was making some big-league plays." He also went 14-9 in the faceoff circle. Kadri has been hot of late with three goals and nine assists in his last eight matches. He surpassed 100 career points Thursday night and currently has 101 in 151 contests.

Nazem Kadri earned an assist and 12 penalty minutes in Toronto's blowout loss to Dallas on Thursday night.

Kadri and Stars agitator Antoine Roussel got involved in some stick-work during the third period. He made some poor decisions with the puck in the contest as well, but was credited with just one giveaway. Kadri has improved offensively of late with a goal and five assists in his past five outings, but his defensive work will have to improve or else he could end up back in Randy Carlyle's doghouse.

Nazem Kadri responded to trade rumors with a big game Saturday against Montreal.

He was physical, set up two goals and was the game's second star in a 5-3 win. Kadri's teammates were certainly impressed by how he played. "Everyone expects him to get three points every night," Tyler Bozak said. "He's still a young kid. I don't think he's going to get 150 points every year. You can see the amount of skill he has and what he showed tonight. He had two huge setups for us." Maybe this will be the start of one of Kadri's hot streaks. If so, ride him until he cools.

Nazem Kadri ended his four-game pointless streak on Tuesday by collecting two assists in the Toronto Maple Leafs' 5-3 loss to the New York Islanders.

Times have been tough for the polarizing forward, as he only has one goal and two helpers for three points in his last 10 games. Overall, he has 25 points in 40 games during the 2013-14 campaign.

Nazem Kadri has one goal and one assist in his last 10 games.

Coach Randy Carlyle is trying to find ways to get the young center out of his funk. "The first thing in my message to him is to find a way to do something a little different. Go out, look at things differently, be a little stronger on the defensive side," suggested Carlyle. "Play good defense and you'll usually be provided with good offense. Do a little bit extra in the weight room, on the bike. Push yourself through the lull that's happening and sharpen yourself up." Kadri has 11 goals and 12 assists in 39 games.

Coach Randy Carlyle wants to see more from Nazem Kadri or else the young center could slide a little further down the depth chart.

"We have to get Kadri, Mason [Raymond] and [Joffrey] Lupul going. The level of their game has got a lot of levels to improve on," said Carlyle. "In my mind, they're playing a fraction of where they can be. They should be on a line that provides the second tier of offense and should challenge the first line." The trio hasn't been together long, but Carlyle added that Peter Holland could supplant Kadri on the combination if their production doesn't increase. Kadri feels the line had their chances against Carolina and he's not worried about the situation even though he has generated just one goal and one assist in his past eight games.
