The Boston Bruins have called up Nick Johnson on an emergency basis. Johnson has spent a lot of time heading back and forth from AHL Providence lately. He has no points in eight games with Boston this season.

Nick Johnson was returned to Providence of the AHL Sunday. He was called up to play in Saturday's game against Ottawa due to an injury to Carl Soderberg but was on the ice for only 7:06 in the Bruins' 4-3 loss. Johnson's demotion is not something those in fantasy pools should concern themselves with.

Nick Johnson has been called up from the minors. He will fill in for the battered Bruins on Saturday night after Carl Soderberg was injured in Friday's win over Ottawa. Johnson was up with Boston before the Christmas break and he has no points in seven games this year.

The Boston Bruins have demoted Nick Johnson. Johnson is 28 years old and has established himself as a top player at the AHL level. He's participated in 111 NHL contests too, but he doesn't do enough to make him worth owning in fantasy leagues.

The Boston Bruins decided that Nick Johnson wasn't quite up to snuff for the 13th forward spot, waiving him on Sunday. It looks like former first-rounder Jordan Caron edged Johnson for that last gig. Johnson showed flourishes in Boston's more dominating moments, but it looks like he'll remain a part-time NHL player and spend more time in the minors.

Nick Johnson and Jordan Caron are competing for Boston's 13th forward spot. "It's a tough decision because there's three or four guys who had good camps," GM Peter Chiarelli said. "I know there are two guys who you've been focusing on, Johnson and Caron, and I think they both played well." Both players would need to clear waivers to be sent down to the minors.

Coach Claude Julien said that Nick Johnson is "in the mix" for a third-line spot with the team. His leading competition for the position is believed to be Reilly Smith, who was acquired from Dallas as part of the Tyler Seguin trade. Jordan Caron hasn't received favorable reviews from onlookers at camp and Ryan Spooner is viewed as more of an option at center than on the wing. "You naturally want to think about it, but you can't," Johnson said. "Every day you've got to go hard. Every day could be your last. So that's the way it is and, if you can, you've got to embrace that for the season."
