Jack Johnson (upper body) is "maybe a week away," according to Blue Jackets coach Todd Richards.

The Blue Jackets could use Johnson back now more than ever given that James Wisniewski has a broken foot. Johnson has a goal and eight points in 18 games this season.

Johnson (shoulder) was placed on IR after he was injured vs. St. Louis on Saturday. He is only a week away from returning to the lineup according to coach Todd Richards. This is great news for Columbus because Johnson is their top defenceman and he eats up a ton of minutes every night.

Make sure to get Johnson out of your lineup because he won't be playing in the near future. Johnson was placed on IR and is a massive loss for the Blue Jackets. Johnson eats up 26:13 a game on average. Columbus is now without Brandon Dubinsky, Artem Anisimov and Johnson... Arguably their three best players.

The Columbus Blue Jackets placed defenseman Jack Johnson (upper-body) on the injured reserve Sunday.

Johnson's offensive output is a touch disappointing overall, although he's been heating up lately, getting four of his eight 2013 points in the last six games. His -10 rating is upsetting but not particularly surprising.

Jack Johnson was a minus-three Sunday and is now minus-seven on the season.

Johnson was on the ice for all three Oiler goals as it was not a great game for the blueliner. He has not been a good plus/minus player in his career and his plus-five rating when he came over from the Kings last season, looks to be an aberration. He has a goal and four points in 12 games this season.

Jack Johnson logged 27:10 minutes on Thursday, which is actually a step down for him.

Johnson leads the league with an average of 28:30 minutes per game and was on the ice for over 34 minutes in each of his previous two contests. "I want to play," Johnson said. "Nobody wants to sit on the bench. But I just do what I'm told. I go out when they need. But as you get more players back they're probably not going to need me to do that anymore."

The injury to James Wisniewski creates a void on the Columbus blue line that's hard to fill.

It's no secret that Jack Johnson will be asked to take on as many minutes as he can handle, as evidenced by the 34:59 he played against the Detroit, but there comes a point when his production may suffer. For the time being, consider Johnson as solid an option as ever despite his relatively slow start.
