Darcy Hordichuk LW EDM 9 Months
Darcy Hordichuk has yet to pick up a penalty in six AHL games.
Hordichuk was sent to the minors as the Oilers did not see a need for an enforcer despite having some young stars on the team like Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Nail Yakupov. Apparently no one in the AHL wants to tangle with Hordichuk at this time and unless some young gun wants to try and make a reputation for himself, do not expect to see Hordichuk in too many fights in the AHL.

Darcy Hordichuk worked on becoming a more well-rounded player during the summer and lockout.
Oilers head coach Ralph Krueger approached Hordichuk and told him that they see him playing in a role beyond protecting their young, skill players. "They wanted me to work on my quickness and speed and my (conditioning), too," Hordichuk said. "I really took these last six months seriously and maybe more than ever worked on my game." Unfortunately, Hordichuk still probably won't get much playing time and that will severely limit his fantasy value. Don't draft him in standard leagues.

Wednesday's game in Edmonton between the Oilers and Minnesota Wild will be a quick rematch from Friday's Wild loss, one in which Edmonton forward Darcy Hordichuk goaded Wild winger Brad Staubitz into eight minutes of penalties. "It's all a part of the game," he said. "I took some dumb penalties. But this is a whole new game."
While Staubitz admitted he took "some dumb penalties," he added he'll be careful tonight. Hordichuk, meanwhile, said: "Staubitz is a guy that likes to be physical and runs around. I'm out there to my job and he's out there to do his job. Some days I'll take penalties and some days he'll take penalties."

Darcy Hordichuk played in his 500th NHL game on Friday and was a key factor in the victory.
While Hordichuk only had a minor in the third period and played only 4:44 minutes all game, he goaded the Wild's Brad Staubitz into a pair of double minors in the first period, leading to one power play goal and putting the Wild on their heels. Congratulations to Darcy on the 500 milestone.
