Heatley (groin) has continued to make progress over the first few weeks of the season and is expected to skate alongside Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry when the Ducks face off with the Blackhawks Tuesday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
The Ducks big offseason acquisition has yet to appear in a regular season game, but Heatley, a two time 50 goal scorer is in line to make his debut in black and orange in Chicago Tuesday night. He has been skating on the top line in practice and also did so in the preseason and it seems he will get his shot at playing with two of the best in the game (Getzlaf and Perry). Heatley's value all depends on where he plays, so we will keep an eye on his shifts. The Ducks square off with the Hawks in Chi-town Tuesday, followed by trips to St. Louis, Dallas and Colorado this week, so Heatley will be playing the class of the West to begin his Ducks' career. It is time to activate him if you took a late flier on him.

Heatley (groin) practiced with the team Monday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Heatley hasn't played a game yet this season, but was skating alongside Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry on the team's top line Monday, so he looks likely to be in the lineup Tuesday against the Blackhawks.

Heatley (groin) took part in a full practice Thursday, but isn't sure when he might receive clearance to start playing in games, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Heatley noted that while his condition is improving, he's still moving "a little slower" than he anticipated. He'll probably need a few practices to get back up to full speed. As a result, it might be safe to rule him out of Friday's game against the Columbus, but it's possible that he could return later in the weekend against the Sharks.

Heatley (groin) continues to make progress while skating, but is expected to miss the Ducks' two weekend contests against the Wild and Blues, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Even though the Ducks still haven't settled on a top-line left wing since Heatley acquired the groin injury, the team is of no mind to rush him back and potential worsen the ailment. With Patrick Maroon joining Heatley on injured reserve Wednesday, it appears Matt Beleskey and Emerson Etem are the top candidates to skate on the Ryan Getzlaf-Corey Perry line.

Heatley (groin) resumed skating in Anaheim on Sunday but is unlikely for the team's home opener against Minnesota on Friday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Heatley was placed on IR on Tuesday but his timetable was unclear. The fact that he is skating is a good sign and an indication he is closing in on a return, but coach Bruce Boudreau expressed a return date later than Friday.

Heatley (groin) will be placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
Heatley hasn't skated since suffering the groin injury last week and can probably safely be ruled out for the Ducks' first two contests. The veteran winger was expected to open the season on the top line next to Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry to start the season, but the Ducks will have to table that plan temporarily while he remains out of commission. Matt Beleskey or Patrick Maroon could receive the appointment to the top line in the interim.

Anaheim's top offseason acquisition, Heatley (groin) remains sidelined and has yet to resume skating, the Orange County Register reports.
Heatley was penciled in on the top line with Captain Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry, but now someone else gets to play with the dynamic duo. And who that will be, who knows. Coach Bruce Boudreau has a lot of options with the depth at his disposal. Patrick Maroon would likely get the first shot, although that is speculation, as we are just going by how well he played with the two superstars last season, especially in the post-season. He will travel with the team to start the season, but muscle strains are tricky. Have other options available for those that drafted the previous 50 goal scorer.

Heatley suffered a groin injury during Sunday's preseason contest and will be out for a minimum of one week, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.
The injury puts Heatley's availability for the Oct. 9 regular season opener against the Penguins in serious jeopardy, but perhaps more significantly, it could end coach Bruce Boudreau's experiment with Heatley on the top line next to Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. With Heatley unable to practice Monday, Patrick Maroon occupied the top left wing spot, and would likely do so for as long as Heatley remains sidelined.

Heatley had the opening tally and eventual game winner in the Ducks 4-0 victory over the Avalanche in his first pre-season game with his new team.
Heatley has been skating with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry on the team's top unit. If he starts the season alongside these top fantasy performers he may have some deep league value.

Ryan Dadoun of Pro Hockey Talk notes that Coach Boudreau "thinks Heatley can be a better fit with Captain Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry on the top line this season than Dustin Penner was, a season ago.
Both veterans, Heatley and Penner were brought in by the Ducks as experiments, Penner prior to last season and Heatley this offseason. Boudreau spoke of how dangerous Heatley has been every time they play him and that he thinks they can pair him with the dynamic duo of Getzlaf and Perry and hopefully will get production. If Heatley gets the first crack at playing alongside these two top 10 fantasy draft picks, his fantasy value has just skyrocketed. We will see how the experiment works and monitor during the pre-season. The Ducks have many options to play with their stars, but Heatley has done it before (50 goal seasons twice), but has been on a steady decline since the 2006-07 campaign. Stay tuned as this may be an interesting late value pick in your drafts.
