Coach Dave Tippett said Hanzal (lower body) could resume skating Friday, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.

Hanzal didn't make the trip with the Coyotes to Minnesota for Thursday's game, but the team seems to believe the forward is only in line for a short-term absence. While Hanzal's injury might not clear up in time for him to play Saturday against the Panthers, there's a good possibility he'll be back in action at some point next week.

Hanzal is receiving treatment in Arizona on Tuesday, so he will not be available to play Tuesday night. Hanzal is considered day-to-day with the injury, and he could join the Coyotes for their next game Thursday in Minnesota.

Hanzal tallied three shots on goal, but finished with a -2 +/- in the blowout loss. He was good on the draw, winning eight of his nine faceoffs, and will looking to build on his career best 40 points in the 2013-14 season.

Injuries have limited Martin Hanzal over the last four campaigns.

Hanzal hasn't played in more than 65 games in a single season over that stretch. "He's a good player when he's a hard, heavy player," Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said. "That's who he has to be. If he doesn't play that way, he's not nearly as effective a player. We expect him to play hard, committed all the time. You just hope that the injury factor doesn't come into play." At this point though, you have to assume that injuries will be a factor when evaluating his potential for the 2014-15 campaign.
