Jonas Gustavsson G DET 6 Days

Gustavsson (shoulder) was on the ice earlier this week for conditioning work,'s Ansar Khan reports.

Gustavsson is still considered multiple weeks away from a return from injured reserve. The netminder said he hasn't been able to test out his shoulder yet, making a firmer timetable for his return difficult to pin down at the moment.

Gustavsson is expected to miss about two months witha dislocated shoulder, Ansar Khan of reports.

Gustavsson doesn't plan to have surgery at this point, but will miss an extended period of time because of the injury. Petr Mrazek should continue in the backup duties to Jimmy Howard until he returns.

Gustavsson separated his shoulder in Wednesday's matchup with the Rangers and will be out a few weeks, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Gustavsson wasn't getting many starts anyway because of how well Jimmy Howard is playing, but it's still a setback for him. Petr Mrazek will take his place as the backup.

Gustavsson suffered a shoulder injury during Wednesday's game and will be out "a while," Helene St. James of The Detroit Free Press reports.

It's too early to determine exactly how long Gustavsson will be out, but it appears he is facing an extended absence. Petr Mrazek will be called up to take over the backup goalie duties behind Jimmy Howard.

Gustavsson will be between the pipes Wednesday against the Rangers,'s Ansar Khan reports.

Gustavsson is expected to match up against 2014 Swedish Olympic teammate Henrik Lundqvist, who won all three of his starts against the Red Wings last season, shutting them out twice. Coming away with the victory Wednesday could be too much to ask from Gustavsson, but he's fared well in his previous two starts this season against respectable opponents in the Flyers and Maple Leafs, going 1-1 with a 1.45 GAA and .935 save percentage.

Gustavsson allowed three goals on 16 shot in Detroit's 4-2 loss to the Flyers on Saturday night.

Peee-yew. The Flyers could barely muster a decent rush all night long, but they still managed to put three pucks behind the Monster. For all his potential, he's not going to usurp Jimmy Howard with play like this.

Gustavsson will receive the start in goal Saturday against the Flyers, Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News reports.

The Red Wings will turn to Gustavsson as the team looks to snap its long losing streak in Philadelphia, a drought that dates back all the way to when the two squads met in the 1997 Stanley Cup Finals. With a 2-3-2 record and several key defensemen missing, this season's edition of the Flyers wouldn't seem to represent a formidable adversary for Gustavsson, who shut out the Maple Leafs in his first start of the season a week earlier.

Gustavsson made 30 saves in a 1-0 overtime win over Toronto on Saturday night.

He was outstanding in his season debut. He's always struggled to stay healthy, so you certainly can't count on him on a consistent basis. But he sure looks like he can help fantasy owners on a match-ups basis.

Gustavsson is expected to make his first start of the season Saturday against the Maple Leafs,'s Ansar Khan reports.

Gustavsson shook off a knee injury late in the preseason to make himself available for last week's season opener, but the solid play in the net by Jimmy Howard has kept Gustavsson glued to the bench. The Red Wings' weekend back-to-back set should finally allow the backup netminder to see the ice, but unless Howard again succumbs to the injury woes that marred his 2013-14 campaign, Gustavsson doesn't figure to cut into his workload too much this season.

Gustavsson appears to be recovered from the knee injury he suffered late in training camp.

There was some concern the Red Wings may have needed to carry three goalies on their Opening Night roster to serve as insurance for Gustavsson's injury, but that ended up proving unnecessary. Jimmy Howard has started both of the Red Wings' games thus far and is slated to man the net again Wednesday, but look for Gustavsson to see the ice fairly soon.
