Grossman potted a goal in Saturday's 5-2 loss against the Rangers.

Grossman ended the Flyers' 133-minute goalless drought against the Rangers in the first period. It's his second goal of the season, and just his fifth point. The defenseman only has value in the deepest of leagues.

Grossmann finished with a goal and a team-high six blocked shots and five hits in Saturday's win over the Red Wings.

The point was Grossman's first of the season in eight games, but the Flyers will primarily depend on him to help support their goaltending, a role he filled admirably Saturday. With both Andrew MacDonald and Braydon Coburn out for the next four weeks with lower-body injuries, Grossmann's defensive responsibilities on a weak Flyers blue line will become more important than ever.

Grossmann (ankle) was on the ice this week and will be ready for training camp, reports the Courier-Post. "It's a matter of just getting better and better, but I'm feeling pretty good," said the defender.

The surgery to repair tendons in his right ankle required six-to-eight weeks of rehab. The big Swede delivered one goal, 13 assists and 55 PIMs in 78 games with the Flyers last season and should replicated those totals this season. Unfortunately, that won't make him much of a fantasy play.

Grossmann had a torn tendon in his ankle. He should be better in late June or early July, so this might not significantly hinder his summer training plans. He had no points and averaged 16:23 minutes per contest in four playoff games.

The Flyers' defense went more than half their game Friday night with five defenders after Nicklas Grossmann left in the second period with a lower-body injury.

The five did well, keeping the Rangers'offense in check and taking Game 4 of their first-round playoff series 2-1 to tie the series at 2-2. Grossman's status is day-to-day.
