Mikhail Grabovski left Thursday's game against the Panthers with an apparent lower-body injury.

Mikhail Grabovski (ankle) could be ready to play when Washington plays next week.

He skated well at practice and coach Adam Oates said Grabovski "seems fine." He missed eight games going into the Olympic break because of an ankle injury. Washington plays at Florida on Feb. 27.

Mikhail Grabovski (ankle) skated on his own Saturday.

Mikhail Grabovski won't travel with the team to Buffalo for Tuesday night's game.

He hasn't skated with his teammates since hurting his ankle on Jan. 24. "It's one of those injuries that can change fast. It's tough to put a timetable on it because you don't put your foot in the boot [of the skate]," coach Adam Oates said. "I think once it changes it will be fine. He was just working out with weights, he looked pretty good in there. I don't know how long it will be."

Mikhail Grabovski did not play on Saturday due to a leg injury.

Grabovski suffered the injury in Friday's game. His spot on the second line was taken over by Brooks Laich who centered Martin Erat and Troy Brouwer. Consider Grabovski day-to-day for now.

Mikhail Grabovski (leg) will be a game-time decision for Saturday's contest against Montreal.

However, he didn't skate in the morning so it's unlikely that he'll be able to play after injuring his leg on Friday. "He was hurting pretty good after the [Devils] game, so we'll see," coach Adam Oates said. Grabovski has 12 goals and 33 points in 49 games this season.

Already without NHL leading scorer Alex Ovechkin, who missed a second game with a groin injury, the Capitals had to finish their 2-1 loss to New Jersey Friday without Mikhail Grabovski.

Third on the Washington team with 33 points, Grabovski left the game after he suffered an apparent injury to his left knee in the second period. "That's a big loss for us," teammate John Carlson said. "He's a big part of our team." The Caps are nosediving. They've lost seven consecutive games and have scored more than one goal in only one of those seven setbacks. They've also now dropped 14 of their past 18 games. "We've just gotta find a way to win a game. Gotta find some goals. It seems like we have to get a shutout to win a game. We've got to find a way to do it," Jason Chimera said. "If desperation doesn't set in then we're in trouble, that's for sure."
