Michael Grabner RW NYI 2 Months

Grabner netted his fifth goal of the season in Thursday's loss to the Bruins.

Grabner nearly came through with his first multi-goal game of the season, but an incredible stick save by Tuukka Rask robbed him of that distinction. Even so, the Austrian winger has been a strong complementary piece to the Isles' attack over his last five games, notching three goals and an assist.

Grabner tallied a goal and an assist in Monday's 7-4 win over the Flyers.

Grabner's 2014-15 campaign has largely been marred by injuries, but he's shown some encouraging signs since coming back of late, tallying four points in his last five games. He initially got his way back onto the roster after an injury to Lubomir Visnovsky, so the 27-year-old will have to continue earning playing time once he returns.

Grabner was activated off IR on Tuesday.

Grabner was ready to return to the team on Thursday, however, there wasn't an open spot on the roster for him at that point in time. With Lubomir Visnovsky headed to IR on Tuesday, Grabner will now get a chance to suit up with the Isles' when they take on the Canucks Tuesday. Grabner has scored two goals in five games with the Islanders this season.

Grabner (lower body) is ready to return to the team, according to Newsday.

That's the good news, the bad news is that even though Grabner is ready to return there isn't a spot on the roster right now for him. The Isles don't seem inclined to change up their starting lineup right now and no one seems to need to go on IR. Grabner may have to wait for a roster spot to open before he gets a chance to play again.

Grabner (lower body) no longer appears on track to play Wednesday against the Jets, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.

Grabner appears to be skating and was believed to be trending toward an activation, but the Islanders' roster still remains full heading into Wednesday's contest. The team will have to waive or place another player on IR to facilitate the return of Grabner.

Grabner (lower body) is expected to return Wednesday to the Islanders, according to Newsday.

Grabner has only played in five games so far this season due to multiple injuries but he did have a pair of goals during those contests. Grabner's speed will be a welcome addition to the Islanders once again.

Grabner (lower body) was moved to injured reserve Wednesday.

Grabner was previously labeled as day-to-day with the lower-body injury, but the Islanders evidently didn't think he'd be ready to go for the next two games. His placement on IR will create an open roster spot for either Johnny Boychuk (upper body) or Travis Hamonic (upper body), both of whom are expected to be ready to play over the weekend.

Grabner tallied a goal on his lone shot attempt in Tuesday's loss to the Islanders.

Since returning from sports hernia surgery to make his season debut Dec. 4, Grabner has provided the Islanders with goals in two of his three games. Grabner will likely struggle to score which much consistency on the Isles' third line, but he should benefit from playing with better quality linemates than he enjoyed in his previous four seasons in Long Island.

Grabner was back skating on the Isles' second line at right wing, where he'll likely slot in for his season debut Thursday in Ottawa. He missed nearly two months after requiring sports hernia surgery.
