Marcel Goc C PIT 4 Days

Goc went minus-2 over his 11:47 of action in Saturday's loss to the Islanders.

The minus-2 puts Goc on the negative side of the plus/minus ledger for the season, but that's not the only area the center has made little to no impact for the Pens. He's contributed just one point, 18 shot attempts, 17 hits and two penalty minutes in 19 games.

Marcel Goc (ankle) said he feels good but his participation in Game 5 will be a coach's decision.

Center Marcel Goc (ankle) seems poised to make his series debut on Saturday.

Goc was inserted into the Pens' fourth line during the Pens' practice on Friday. The Penguins and Blue Jackets meet for Game 5 in their playoff series Saturday. "I feel good," said Goc, who was acquired from Florida at the deadline in exchange for draft picks. "We'll see if coach puts me in or not." Goc skated on a line with left wing Tanner Glass and right wing Craig Adams Friday morning. He said such a grouping should be a disruptive force against the fast and physical Blue Jackets. "If we can chip in a goal, I think that would be a big help for the team," said Goc, who missed the final nine games of the regular season because of a foot injury. "But be physical, be hard to play against and get the other team off their game." Goc had 11 goals and 12 assists in 62 games for Florida before being acquired by the Penguins at the deadline. The German-born center had no goals and two assists in 12 games for the Penguins before suffering his injury.

It was the fourth time in a row for Goc as the Penguins did not have a practice but Goc and players who were healthy scratches in the first two games such as Deryk Engelland, skated. Consider Goc day-to-day but he is doubtful for action on Monday in Game 3.

Marcel Goc (ankle) may not be able to return to the Penguins for the start of the playoffs.

Goc suffered a foot injury during a game last Thursday and is definitely out for the remainder of the season. Penguins coach Dan Blysma admitted to feeling fortunate that Goc was only out for three weeks since the injury looked worse to him. With Goc out of the lineup, the Penguins are using forward Jussi Jokinen at center. He has been almost exclusively at left wing this season but has a history of playing center. Jokinen started between wingers James Neal and Beau Bennett against the Blue Jackets Friday night.
