Glencross missed Thursday's practice with an illness, Randy Sportak of the Calgary Sun reports.

Coach Bob Hartley said that he still expected Glencross to play Friday against the Predators, so it doesn't sound like the illness is anything to worry about. Glencross has tallied a goal and two assists to go along with 28 hits over 11 games.

Glencross scored the Flames' lone goal in Saturday's loss to the Blues.

Blues goalie Brian Elliott shut out the Flames for 54 minutes before Glencross collected his 200th NHL point with a power-play tally. It was something of an accomplishment that he managed to pick up a point Saturday, since top-scoring linemate Jiri Hudler was sitting due to an illness.

Discussions for a new Curtis Glencross deal in Calgary will take place in the next few weeks.

"I've talked to Brad [Treliving, new Flames GM] a few times now and my agent has also been in touch with him numerous times," Glencross said. "The plan is they want to get the ball rolling after the [Aug 1.] arbitration thing with [Joe] Colborne, and get to talking. Hopefully we can get something done sooner rather than later, and not have to worry about a contract during the season." Glencross, 31, put up good offensive numbers through an injury-plagued 2013-14 season, with 12 goals and 24 points in 38 games. From 2010-12, Glencross averaged 25 goals and 45 points a season. Glencross said he took a hometown discount on his current deal (four years at $10.2 million, which expires next July) and isn't really interested in doing it again. "It'll be a little bit different this time around," Glencross said, explaining that the next contract likely will be his final one in the NHL.

Glencross has been out since Dec. 21. "It's going to be good," he said. "I've put in a lot of hours on the ice bag-skating and a lot of hours in the gym. Obviously, it's not the year I wanted injury-wise . . . so I'm going to take these last 17 games here and make the best of 'em and take strides for next year." He has six goals and 12 points in 21 contests in 2013-14.

Curtis Glencross (ankle) took part in Wednesday's practice.

It was Glencross' first practice since he sustained the high-ankle sprain, but it's still not clear when he'll return to the Flames' lineup. "I wouldn't even put (a number) of days," Flames head coach Bob Hartley said. "Today was his first practice, and Glennie basically hasn't played all year. We're not going to jeopardize anything. We're going to make sure conditioning-wise, he's good, pain-wise, he's good. We want to do what's right for Glennie." Injuries have limited Glencross to 21 games this season.
