Daniel Girardi suffered a dislocated pinkie in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final.

The pinkie was popped back into place and he didn't end up missing any playing time over the ailment. He feels healthy otherwise, so he shouldn't be limited while training this summer.

Dan Girardi admittedly spent some time Thursday "stewing" over the turnover that led to an overtime loss for the Rangers in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final.

But some leisure time in Los Angeles since Wednesday and some encouraging words from teammates has him all but over the turnover, he said. Girardi says he's psyched for Game 2 in LA today. "I think obviously whenever you make a play like that, that it costs the game, you're gonna feel lower than you've ever felt before, to tell you the truth," Girardi said after the Rangers skated Friday at Staples Center. "I think it's great when the guys rally around you. That could happen to anyone, and that's the type of team we are. "Everyone's got each other's back and we're hopefully going to build off that. . I think I stewed about it a little (Thursday), but today's a new day and we have a chance to win Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Finals."

The New York Rangers 7-4 loss to Montreal on Tuesday was reminiscent of the franchise's past struggles at the Bell Centre.

"Yeah, it was a bad deja vu of the days we used to come in here and it would be a gong show," defenseman Dan Girardi agreed. The Rangers had an opportunity to eliminate Montreal with a victory, but the silver lining is that they'll have another chance to advance to the Stanley Cup Final at home on Thursday.

Daniel Girardi and Ryan McDonagh continue to excel against the Flyers top line.

Claude Giroux, Scott Hartnell and Jakub Voracek combined for only one goal and three assists in four regular season games with Hartnell setting up Andrew MacDonald on the power play for the only Flyers goal in Game 1 of the playoffs. If the duo of Girardi and McDonagh continue their outstanding play, the Flyers are going to have a tough time advancing.

Daniel Girardi has inked a six-year, $33 million extension with the New York Rangers.

That's identical to what Girardi was reportedly looking for in a contract extension and immediately ends the trade speculation surrounding him. It also represents a sizable, but predictable raise from his previous four-year, $13.3 million contract. Girardi has tremendous value to the Rangers, as they've demonstrated, but as a defensive defenseman, his worth to fantasy owners in standard leagues is limited at best.

The New York Rangers are still negotiating a contract extension with Daniel Girardi.

If Girardi doesn't re-sign soon, then the Rangers will reportedly attempt to trade him rather than risk losing him as an unrestricted free agent over the summer. Earlier reports suggested that Girardi was looking for a six-year, $33 million deal.

Daniel Girardi is reportedly looking for a six-year deal worth about $33 million.

Girardi is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. He's primarily a defensive defenseman, although he also has chipped in 15 points in 52 games this season. The Rangers have reportedly made him two counter offers. One gives him the contract length he wants, but with an annual cap hit closer to $5 million and one exceeds the annual salary he wants, but will only cover five seasons.
