Mark Giordano was the Calgary Flames' nominee for the King Clancy trophy, which goes to the player "that best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice and has made a noteworthy contribution in his community."

Giordano does a ton of charity work off the ice, from golf tournaments to working with Habitat for Humanity. He was also one of the Flames who refused to pack it in and tank for a better shot at the top pick in draft at the end of the season. The winner will be announced at the NHL awards show during the Stanley Cup final.

With two weeks left, man-power games need to be considered when evaluating whether a player is worthy of a waiver pickup. Two players who both have four games in the upcoming scoring period (4/15-4/21), warrant serious fantasy consideration if they are still available in your fantasy leagues:

1. ALEX CHIASSON RW, DALLAS

2. MARK GIORDANO D, CALGARY

As much as Calgary fans may want the Flames (15-21-4) to finish as far down the standings as possible -- to be in a better position for a choice in the next draft -- that's hard to ask of professionals with any pride.

"I still think there's teams to be caught," said Mark Giordano, who scored the winning goal in the Flames' 3-2 overtime win over Phoenix Friday. "There are a few teams ahead of us that are six, maybe four points after tonight and hopefully we can move up as far as possible. You don't even want to finish 14th. You want to finish as high as possible. As players, we want to win. We don't want to worry about anything else."

Mark Giordano fired home the overtime winner and added an assist in the Flames' 3-2 overtime win over the Coyotes Friday night.

"It always feel great to score no matter what," said Giordano. "But obviously an OT winner, you don't get those too often." This was Giordano's 13th point and first game winner of the season.

Giordano missed the Flames last game because he was with his wife while she gave birth to a new baby boy. Anton Babchuk will likely be scratched in favor of Giordano.

Mark Giordano said that the Calgary Flames' 8-2 loss on Wednesday was "embarrassing."

Giordano wasn't willing to use the distraction of the trade deadline as they prepared for the game as a reason for this blowout loss. "That's a terrible excuse," he countered. "The deadline is a business. It is what it is. We're still playing a game for a living. You have to prepare and be better. That was just . . . there's no way to explain that. I know it's obviously frustrating for everyone else. But for us as players, it's got to come from within. The pride thing. Just being a professional and making it hard." The Flames aren't going to make the playoffs, so they don't have much left to play for other than pride.

With their long-time captain Jarome Iginla gone, the Calgary Flames ended their home-game winning streak at eight Friday night, and defenseman Wayne Giordano found a simple reason for the outcome.

"We give up too many ... tap-ins, basically,'' Giordano said. "It's easy for them to score those goals, if you look at them. Odd-man rushes and turnovers. We're not giving up huge scoring chances, number-wise. But the quality is ..." An eight-game home-ice win streak creaked, groaned and ultimately collapsed under the unbearable strain of more vaudeville slapstick Friday night -- 21 recorded giveaways in a wildly sloppy 6-4 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets. "We keep shooting ourselves in the foot,'' muttered Giordano.
