Gervais signed a contract Monday with Eisbaren Berlin of the German Elite League. A veteran of 418 career NHL games, Gervais has spent the last two seasons exclusively in the minors with AHL Adirondack and AHL Lake Erie. With the 30-year-old unlikely to earn an NHL roster spot in 2015-16, he elected to head to Europe for what likely amounts to a better financial opportunity.

Gervais was put on waivers by Colorado on Tuesday, Renaud Lavoie of Le Journal de Montreal reports. He spent all of last season in the AHL where he played 59 games, scored 10 goals, and added 16 assists. Gervais has played over 400 games in the NHL so if he is not claimed by a different NHL team, he will report to AHL Lake Erie. The only way he could see time with the Avalanche is if they are plagued with injuries. Otherwise, he will have very little fantasy value even in deeper leagues.

I don't even feel it anymore." He had been in considerable pain beforehand, which prevented him pushing off when skating and could not resist getting pulled down because he had no strength. Gervais had been dealing with the ailment for a while before he underwent surgery and was finally shut down. He's expected to be fine for training camp, but he'll have to compete for a roster spot.
