The activation of Jaden Schwartz (foot) from injured reserve will force Fraser back to the minors. The 29-year-old made his season debut for the Blues on Friday night, going minus-1 over his 4:42 of action.

Fraser was given the opportunity to compete for a bottom-six role with the Blues in training camp, but the team's considerable forward depth seemed to work against him. Though he possesses little in the way of offensive upside, Fraser was a key fourth-line player for the Kings during their two recent Stanley Cup runs. That experience could prompt another team to pick him up off waivers.

Fraser signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Blues on Friday, the Blues' Official Site reports.
Fraser spent last season between the Kings and the AHL's Manchester Monarchs. He managed to make 33 NHL appearances a year ago while tallying six points over the course of 2013-14 with the Kings. The 29-year-old will look to improve on those numbers by earning a full-time gig with the Blues before the season starts.

Fraser played part of the season with the Kings as he had only two assists and 30 penalty minutes in 33 games. The Kings AHL affiliate in Manchester was eliminated on Friday so the Kings have called up seven players including Fraser.

The Kings save some cap space over the Olympic break if Fraser plays in the minors, so that may explain the decision. He has skated in 33 games this season and he has produced two assists. He also has 30 penalty minutes and 58 hits.

With that out of the way, Fraser participated in Monday's practice. Fraser sustained the injury on Wednesday, but didn't experience any symptoms the following day. "With the protocol and the safety, which is obviously a good thing - I'm not complaining - it just takes a little longer," Fraser said. It sounds like he will probably return in the very near future.
