Nick Foligno was the Blue Jackets' only threat on Tuesday night, as he recorded five shots on goal in Columbus' 1-0 overtime shootout loss.

Foligno has been very quiet this season offensively, mustering just 15 points in 33 games played. He has shown some signs of life of late however, coming off a two-goal performance on Friday. However, don't expect a spike in production anytime soon.

Nick Foligno registered two goals for the Blue Jackets in a 5-1 win over Calgary Friday night.

The move to Columbus has been a fruitful one for the former Senator, who has registered 15 points and 22 penalty minutes in 31 contests. Colton Gillies, Jared Boll and Artem Anisimov all found the back of the net in the win.

Nick Foligno is fine after his collision with Nashville's Taylor Beck in the second period on Tuesday night.

"My ears were ringing," Foligno recalled. "I think I literally had my bell rung." He required assistance to get off the ice, but passed his cognitive tests and returned for the third period. He should be fine to play Friday night. Foligno has been quiet of late with just one assist and two shots in his last five games. He has 13 points and 62 hits over 30 matches this season.

Nick Foligno picked up two assists in Columbus' 5-4 overtime loss to Dallas Tuesday.

The multi-point effort snapped a five-game pointless drought for the Blue Jackets winger. Foligno has eight points in 20 games this season. Mark Letestu also had two helpers in the loss, while Cam Atkinson and R.J. Umberger found the back of the net in the defeat.

Scary! It's Halloween and no NHL action yet.

Happy Birthday wishes to Montreal Canadien C Tomas Plekanec, Columbus Blue Jacket LW Nick Foligno and New York Ranger D Steve Eminger!

Later today, The Phoenix Coyotes are featured in the NHL In 30!

A sample of what to expect in the NHL In 30 Series...

The New York Islanders have been in a rebuilding stage for quite some time now. With a plethora of draft picks the last few years, their farm system is stacked with plenty of prospects. The core of the team's offense is coming into their prime with John Tavares and Kyle Okposo entering their fourth NHL season along with Matt Moulson, so there is hope for improvement for this, the other New York team. The Islanders made some off-season additions in hopes of bolstering their depth and provide leadership in hopes of earning a playoff position.

Nick Foligno is trying to stay optimistic even as the scheduled start of the season has past without any games being played.

"It totally stinks that tonight is supposed to be opening night (Blue Jackets at Chicago)," Foligno said. "But I'm trying to make the most of it. I'm trying to keep a positive approach, trying stay optimistic that something's going to get done. Hey, at least I'm not getting drilled into the boards right now, right?" Foligno still believes that there will be a 2012-13 campaign. He signed a three-year/$9.15 million contract with Columbus in July.

Nick Foligno signed a three-year/$9.15M contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Columbus acquired the rights to Foligno in exchange for Marc Methot. He had 15 goals and 47 points with the Ottawa Senators in 2011-12. He should get a spot on one of Columbus' top two lines and a healthy amount of playing time with the man advantage.
