Nick Foligno LW CLS 1 Month

Foligno scored a goal and an assist, both on the power play, in Saturday's 7-4 loss to the Lightning.

He now has three multi-point games in his last four, and 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) in 13 games on the year. Foligno has been one of the few bright spots on an almost comically-undermanned Blue Jackets roster that has been crippled by injuries, but as long as he continues to see top-six ice time Foligno's capable of staying hot.

Foligno was the only Blue Jacket able to penetrate Cam Ward in Tuesday's loss to Carolina, scoring two goals (one on the power play) on four shots.

After opening the season on a six-game point streak, he went scoreless over a three-game stretch, but has bounced back with consecutive multi-point efforts. The fifth and sixth goals of the year for Foligno push his point total to 13 in just 11 contests -- a stunning early-season breakout for a guy who's only exceeded 40 points one time in seven NHL seasons.

Foligno scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Devils. He now has 11 points, including four goals, in his last 10 games.

He had a scare in the second period when he was hit in the face with a puck. He went to the dressing room for evaluation, but was able to return in the third period. Right now, he's on a pace that would outstrip his career numbers by a huge margin. Take advantage -- regression to the mean will occur soon.

Foligno (neck) will return to the lineup Friday against the Maple Leafs, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.

Foligno was a full participant in line rushes during the Blue Jackets' morning skate, confirming his return to the lineup later in the evening. The winger missed just one game after he was stretched off the ice Sunday against the Kings, escaping with just a minor stinger. With a multitude of key forwards still on Columbus' injured reserve list, Foligno will be counted on as a major force offensively now that he's back healthy.

Foligno (neck) took part in Thursday's practice, Shawn Mitchell of The Columbus Post-Dispatch reports.

Foligno sat out the Blue Jackets' last game Tuesday, but his participation in Thursday's practice session bodes well for his chances of playing Friday. The Blue Jackets could certainly use him with six forwards out with injuries.

Foligno (neck) will miss Tuesday's game against the Senators, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.

After sitting out the team's morning skate, Foligno predictably wasn't on the ice for pregame warmups, verifying his status as a scratch Tuesday. The winger fortunately appears to have avoided a serious neck injury after he was stretched off the ice Sunday, but his status for the team's back-to-back with Toronto and New Jersey over the weekend remains in peril.

Foligno (neck) did not take part in Tuesday's morning skate.

Foligno is considered day-to-day with a sore neck, but his absence Tuesday morning hints at him sitting out Tuesday's game against the Senators. Expect an update on Foligno's status when the Blue Jackets make a final call on his availability for Tuesday's game.

Foligno (neck) is hoping to be cleared for Tuesday's game against the Senators, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.

Foligno left Sunday's game against the Kings on a stretcher after a scary collision with a linesman along the boards, but apparently the injury isn't as serious as it appeared. Foligno described the injury as a "stinger," and said the exit on a stretcher was just precautionary. Even if he's not cleared in time for Tuesday's contest with the Sens, it's still excellent news that his injury isn't serious.

Foligno was forced to exit Sunday's game against the Kings on a stretcher, The Columbus Dispatch reports.

Foligno went down after unfortunately hitting the crown of his helmet on the linesman's hip while falling down Sunday. The incident left Foligno face-down on the ice for quite some time, until a stretcher brought him off the ice. In an encouraging development, Foligno was reportedly alert and able to speak with medical personnel once exiting Sunday's game. Nonetheless, his condition moving forward is unclear at the moment.

Foligno pushed his season-opening point streak to six games Thursday, notching a goal, an assist, a plus-2 and three PIM in a win over the Sharks.

Both of his points were big ones -- Foligno's assist on Ryan Johansen's first goal started the first of two comebacks for the Jackets, and his power-play tally tied the game in the latter half of the third period. It looks like he's really turned a corner here at the start of the season, but it seems unlikely that Foligno, whose career high is 47 points, can maintain anything resembling his current pace.
