Justin Falk D CLS 4 Days

Falk, who was acquired from the Wild prior to Monday's trade deadline, will stick with the Blue Jackets rather than reporting to AHL Springfield, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.

With the Blue Jackets shipping out two blueliners at the deadline (James Wisniewski and Jordan Leopold), an opening will exist for Falk to stick with the parent club, likely for the rest of the season. He's expected to be in the lineup Tuesday against the Capitals, but don't expect him to deliver much use as a likely third-pairing defender. He was held without a point and put 10 shots on goal in his 13 games with the Wild earlier this season.

The Blue Jackets acquired Falk and a 2015 fifth-round pick Monday in exchange for defenseman Jordan Leopold, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.

The 26-year-old was held without a point in his 13 games with the Wild earlier this season and hasn't shown much scoring ability at the minor-league level, either. Falk is expected to report to AHL Springfield with his new organization, though it's possible that he may be added to the parent club at some point to serve as a depth defenseman.
