Ennis scored the only goal for the Sabres, put five shots on net and collected five PIM for fighting in Tuesday's 6-1 loss to the Blues.

Despite the rout, Ennis at least broke even in this game, thus not worsening his minus-11 rating for the season. The goal was his first in six November games.

Ennis, who received a misconduct after hitting linesman Derek Nansen on the hand with his stick Friday, will not receive any further discipline, The Buffalo News reports.

It was an odd incident, to say the least, but it wasn't like Ennis was swinging his stick in rage at the official, but apparently was trying to get his attention over some matter and the stick just hit the wrong spot. Ennis sits second on the Sabres with seven points, sad as that may sound, and he'll be in the lineup Saturday when the team faces the Penguins.

Ennis picked up a power-play assist on the Sabres' first goal and scored the second himself, but it wasn't enough in a shootout loss to the Bruins.

The helper was actually his first of the season, and his first power-play point as well. Ennis's offensive game has only appeared in fits and starts so far, but he's seeing premium ice time, so he'll have every opportunity to put up more points.

Ennis scored the lone Sabres' goal in Monday's blowout loss to Anaheim.

Although the Sabres are 0-3-0 to start the season, Ennis has managed to be valuable in fantasy, netting two goals. The small but effective center will get plenty of opportunities to produce this season, playing on the top line and top power-play unit alongside Matt Moulson. If the 25-year-old Ennis can pot 21 goals and 43 points with the league's worst offensive team in 2013-14, there is no reason he can't produce similar totals with Buffalo again this season.

Playing on the top line with Matt Moulson and Drew Stafford, Ennis scored a goal and an assist to lead the Sabres past the Hurricanes 2-0 Sunday night.

Moulson played with Ennis and Stafford prior to being dealt to Minnesota, so it's not like head coach Ted Nolan suddenly found the magic formula, but it's encouraging for the Sabres to see their top line clicking so early. Ennis re-signed with the Sabres for $23 million over the summer and despite his size, will be deployed as the team's No. 1 center this year. If the line continues to click, Ennis is bound to best last year's 43-point performance.

Tyler Ennis' agent, Eustace King, is predicting that his client will peak at around 30 goals and 70 points.

"I believe that Tyler's challenge has been that he's an undersized guy his whole career but he's overcome that obstacle," King said of Ennis. "I think Tyler is going to be like some of the smaller guys that have gone through the Buffalo Sabres over the years and gone on to great careers in the NHL. I clearly believe we haven't scratched the surface yet to what Tyler can be." Obviously Ennis' agent is going to be biased and the numbers he's putting forward would be a big leap from his current career-high of 49 points. That being said, Ennis is still just 24 years old (25 on Oct. 6) and he definitely still has some room to grow. He should establish himself as a solid top-six forward after inking a five-year, $23 million deal with Buffalo.

The Buffalo Sabres have signed Tyler Ennis to a multi-year contract extension.

Buffalo didn't disclose the term or cap hit, but it's reportedly a five-year, $23 million contract. The Sabres are betting on Ennis bouncing back after recording just 43 points in 80 games last season. He certainly has the capacity to firmly establish himself as a solid top-six forward and could end up with 50-60 points in 2014-15.

Tyler Ennis is reportedly close to signing a five-year deal with the Buffalo Sabres.

It's believed that Ennis' deal will be in the ballpark of $4.6 million annually for five years. He had 43 points and 42 penalty minutes in 80 games in 2013-14. At the age of 24, he still has some untapped offensive upside.

Tyler Ennis is setting high goals for himself for next season.

He said he wants to hit 30 or 40 goals after he scored 21 this past campaign. "I can be a lot better," Ennis said. "I had such a slow start. It's not acceptable, and I need to be better to start. I'm looking forward to next year and playing out of the gates faster." He registered two goals and six points during the first 20 games of the year with Ron Rolston behind the bench. Ennis played primarily as Buffalo's No. 1 center in 2013-14, but he'll need to better on faceoffs (38.7 percent success rate) if the Sabres want to keep him in that role.
