Emery (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Thursday.

With the Flyers activating Steve Mason (knee) from injured reserve to serve as the backup to Rob Zepp for Thursday's game against the Maple Leafs, Emery was shuttled to IR to open up the roster spot. The severity of Emery's injury hasn't been articulated, but the fact that he wasn't cleared to travel with the club for its two-game road trip suggests it's more than a day-to-day concern. Even once Emery is healthy, there's no guarantee that he'd immediately unseat Zepp for No. 2 goalie duties.

Emery did not travel with the team for Tuesday's game at Carolina, and is considered day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

It's unclear when Emery suffered the injury, but it's possible it occurred before the team's back-to-back set over the weekend as Rob Zepp received both starts. Starter Steve Mason is expected back from his own injury within the week, but Emery's next chance to start after Tuesday's contest will be Thursday at Toronto.

Emery stopped 30 of 32, but was stuck with a shootout loss Thursday against Buffalo. It's a strong stat line, but no one wants to be stuck with a loss against the Sabres, who have won just 17 times in 58 games this year. Emery has now taken four losses -- three of them in overtime -- in his last five starts, and he continues to mix good and bad outings in a semi-unpredictable manner.

Emery will be in the cage for Thursday's game against the Sabres, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.Emery has alternated strong and poor starts in his four outings in place of the injured Steve Mason, but he'll remain ahead of Rob Zepp on the team's depth chart for the time being. However, if Emery fails to contain a Sabres squad that's averaging only 1.74 goals per game, much of his job security could be squandered.

Emery gave up four goals on 24 shots Tuesday in a loss to the Jackets.Unsurprisingly, Emery remains a highly unreliable option in net, whether in fantasy or reality. He was outplayed handily in this one by the Jackets' own interim starter, Curtis McElhinney. But on the bright side, he'll have an easier task Thursday against Buffalo -- if he draws the start again.

Emery has been confirmed as the starter for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jackets, Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.Emery earns his fifth straight start while Steve Mason (knee) remains limited to off-ice work. The Blue Jackets will counter in goal with Curtis McElhinney, who is also filling in for an injured No. 1 netminder in Sergei Bobrovsky (groin).

Emery is likely to start Tuesday's game against the Blue Jackets, Dave Isaac of the Courier-Post reports.Emery has been mostly terrible this season when pressed into action for Steve Mason's numerous injuries, but he's fared well in his latest stint as the Flyers' primary netminder. The 32-year-old has gone 2-0-2 with a 2.24 GAA and .922 save percentage over his last four turns, which should be enough for him to hold off the recently-recalled Rob Zepp for starting duties for the time being.

Emery turned away 21 of the 22 shots he faced in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Sabres. It's Emery's first win since taking over the starting job with Steve Mason sidelined, but it's hard to get too excited as he wasn't heavily tested and faced the worst offensive club in the league. While the Flyers have earned at least a point in all three games since he's taken over, Emery still sports a 3.17 GAA and .893 save percentage, so he should only be looked at in favorable matchups.

Emery will start in net against the Sabres on Sunday, Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.Emery only has nine wins on the season and he recorded just two of those victories in the months of January and February. His save percentage accordingly sits at .890 while accompanied by a poor 3.29 GAA.

Emery gave up four goals on 33 shots in Friday's overtime loss to the Blue Jackets.Emery has lost two straight games, but he's helped the Flyers earn a point in both of them, stopping 68 of 74 shots (.918 save percentage). He's playing well right now in absence of Steve Mason (knee), but owns a 9-9-3 record on the season with a lackluster .890 save percentage and 3.29 GAA. The Flyers haven't lost in regulation in eight straight games, so Emery could be worth looking ai in Mason's absence. Emery may pick up a few wins, but with the lackluster defense in front of him, don't expect great rate stats.
