Ellis (lower body) will return to the lineup for Thursday's game against the Islanders, NHL.com's Thomas Willis reports.
Considered a game-time decision, Ellis will play in just his second contest since Jan. 8. He's been productive when healthy this season, with 18 points and a plus-11 rating through 41 appearances.

Ellis (lower body) will be a game-time decision Thursday against the Islanders.
Ellis skated on the Preds' third defensive pairing with Mattias Ekholm at the team's morning skate, while Victor Bartley remained on the ice after the session for extra work. That's usually a positive indicator that Ellis might play, but because the Preds are proceeding cautiously with getting the blueliner back in the lineup following a long-term absence, he remains questionable to play. Expect Ellis' status to be clarified during pregame warmups.

General manager David Poile said that Ellis would sit out a third straight game Tuesday against the Sharks, John Glennon of The Tennessean reports. Poile noted that Ellis, who returned from a lower-body injury last week against the Wild, "didn't have a lot of speed in his game" in his return and was in need of more rest.
It doesn't sound like Ellis suffered a setback during his 11:29 of action last week, but he nonetheless might have returned from injury a bit prematurely. It seems the Predators are just being cautious with Ellis, who has been working out off the ice the last few days. Poile said that Ellis could return to the lineup as soon as Thursday's game against the Islanders, but next week might be a more realistic target date.

Ellis will not be in the lineup Saturday against the Red Wings.
After missing more than a month and a half with a lower-body injury, Ellis returned to the lineup Thursday against the Wild, seeing 11:29 of ice time, which was about eight minutes fewer than his season average. It's not clear if he suffered an injury setback during that contest, or if coach Peter Laviolette is simply making him a healthy scratch Saturday. Regardless, Victor Bartley will replace him on the Preds' third pairing, where he'll skate next to Seth Jones.

Ellis (lower body) is no longer listed on injured reserve, suggesting he'll be available for Thursday's game against the Wild.
Coach Peter Laviolette intimated after the Preds' morning skate that Ellis would be a game-time decision for Thursday's tilt, but barring a late setback, it seems highly likely the defenseman will play for the first time since Jan. 8. Victor Bartley is expected to come out of the lineup to make room for Ellis, who skated on a pair with Seth Jones during the morning session. With five goals and 18 points in 40 games this season, Ellis could still have a shot at surpassing his career-best total of 27 points, despite missing nearly seven weeks of action.

Ellis (lower-body) is expected to rejoin the lineup Thursday against Minnesota, the Tennessean reports.
Although no formal announcement was made following the morning skate, fellow blueliner Victor Bartley was on the ice for an extended period, an indication that he would not play that night against the Wild. If that were to be the case, Ellis would likely get the nod in Bartley's absence. Ellis hasn't played since Jan. 8, missing the team's last 21 games. Technically, he remains on injured reserve, but has been skating with the team for several days and has declared himself ready to go. Either way, be ready to re-insert Ellis back in your fantasy lineups once he gets the official green light to return.

Ellis (lower body) took part in Wednesday's practice, skating with Seth Jones as the Preds' third pairing, Kristopher Martel of FOX Sports reports.
Ellis' participation alongside Jones would seemingly indicate that he's closing in on a return, though he seemed to back off on playing in the Preds' next came Thursday against the Wild, noting that the injury is "still nagging him." In any event, he at least seems to be progressing in the right direction, and should represent a welcome addition to the blue line corps once he's fully healthy.

Ellis (lower-body injury) is expected back in the Preds' lineup in a week or two, the Tennessean reports.Per the report, the blueliner, who last suited up on Jan. 8, continued skating with the team on Monday, but he's still dealing with some pain at this stage. "I couldn't play right now because it's still pretty painful," said Ellis, who has recorded 18 points in 40 games to date, to go along with a plus-12 rating. "It just all depends on how fast I get over that pain. If it's next week, it's next week. If it's 10 days, it's 10 days."

Ellis (lower body) took part in the Preds' morning skate Saturday, NHL.com's Robby Stanley reports.Ellis won't be a lineup consideration for Saturday's game against the Devils, as it's the first time he's been able to skate with the team since suffering the injury Jan. 8. He could begin taking part in full practices within the next couple of days, potentially allowing him to return to action at some point next week.

Ellis (lower body) skated on his own before Tuesday's morning session, NHL.com's Thomas Willis reports.
