Alexander Edler D VAN 4 Hrs

Edler (upper body) is no longer listed on the Canucks' injured reserve list and is on track to play Thursday against the Coyotes, Jeff Paterson of TSN 1040 reports.

Edler resumed practicing fully earlier this week and was a full participant in morning skate without any issues. He'll slot in on a defensive pair with Yannick Weber, while also assuming on spot on the Canucks' top power-play unit. Frank Corrado will exit the lineup to make room for Edler, who will make his first appearance since Feb. 14.

Edler (upper body) was a full participant in Monday's practice, Ben Kuzma of the Vancouver Province reports.

Edler's involvement with his teammates could suggest that a return is on the horizon. While it appears unlikely that he would be activated from IR in advance of Tuesday's tilt with the Sharks, if Edler is able to practice the next two days, he could be ready to play Thursday in Arizona.

Edler (upper body) resumed skating back in Vancouver on Wednesday, Jeff Paterson of TSN 1040 AM reports.

The news offers some indication that Edler is making progress, but he still shouldn't be considered close to a return until he starts taking full-contact practice with the rest of the team. The Canucks are still listing him as week-to-week.

Edler scored the lone Canucks' goal in Tuesday's loss to the Predators.

Edler is having a decent season for the Canucks, but fantasy-wise, we're left wanting more. The 28-year-old has notched five goals and 14 points in 41 games, putting him on track to fall just short of the 30-point barrier. Edler has helped fantasy owners with a healthy 111 shots on goal and 75 blocked shots, but the Canucks are fading, meaning it's unlikely we see a second-half surge from the former 49-point-getter. Averaging a whopping 24:25 of ice time, Edler could see his production increase if the Canucks get back on track, but keep in the mind the blueliner had just six points in 22 games during the playoff-push stretch at the end of last season.
