Matt Duchene C COL 5 Days

Duchene scored a goal, added an assist, went plus-2 and finished things off by tallying in the shootout Thursday against Winnipeg.

A big game for Duchene, who'd gone without a point over the last two, including last Friday's matchup with these same Jets. We're still looking for more consistency both from him and the Avs as a whole, but things are looking up for Duchene, who has six points over the last six games.

Duchene scored a goal and an assist in a 5-2 win over Dallas on Saturday.

It's been an up-and-down season for Duchene and the Avs this season, but on Saturday night Duchene put in one of his strongest performances with two points, six shots on net and winning 62 percent of his draws. He now has 16 points in 24 games this season, a respectable total, but still far off from his point-per-game pace last year. Duchene has the talent but has yet to establish himself as an elite player in the NHL.

Duchene netted the game winner late in the third period of Saturday's game to lift Colorado to a 3-2 victory over New Jersey.

He now has three points, including two goals, in his last two games, but just six points in his last 11. Hopefully this is the start of a sweet streak.

Duchene opened the scoring Thursday with his fifth goal and added an assist in a 4-3 overtime win over the Rangers.

Duchene hasn't really been able to get things going this year, as he'd registered on the scoresheet but once in six games entering Thursday's action. He's well off his normal pace, but the 2009 No. 3 overall pick is sure to pick things up.

Duchene snapped a three-game scoreless slump with a third-period goal Thursday, and he tallied in the shootout as well, helping the Avs to a 4-3 win over Toronto.

He'd gone minus-3 over those last three contests and had in fact collected just two assists over his prior six games entering Thursday's action. But Duchene is way too talented to slump like that for long, so it's no surprise to see him get back on the horse.

Duchene collected a pair of assists in Thursday's 5-0 win over the Islanders.

He'd gone scoreless for a whole two games, so of course that had to end. Duchene is a smidge off the pace with nine points in 11 games, but when all's said and done, he'll be close to a point-per-game player. The only real question is how many games he'll be health enough to play in.

Duchene has a goal, two assists, and six shots on goal in Friday's win over the Canucks.

A dominant effort from Duchene, who has come alive after going scoreless in his first two games. The 23-year-old has three goals and six points in his last five games, to go with a plus-1 rating. Forget the slow start, this is the Duchene we have grown to know. The Avalanche broke out offensively Friday, and Duchene was right in the middle of it. Keep rolling him.

Duchene unleashed 10 shot attempts -- finding the net for his second goal of the season in the third period -- in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Canadiens.

The 10 shots nearly doubled the 12 combined attempts Duchene racked up in the Avs' first five games. While he seems to be working his way out of a sluggish start to the season, Duchene will need his fellow linemates to step things up quickly if he hopes to surpass his 2013-14 output of 70 points.

Duchene supplied his first goal of the season in Tuesday's loss to the Maple Leafs.

A wild scramble for the puck late in the second in the second period, resulted in some poor defensive positioning for the Maple Leafs, allowing Duchene to take full advantage. Duchene was on the ice for the Leafs' other two goals on the evening, however, resulting in him taking a minus-1 in plus/minus.

Duchene had a solid preseason finishing with one goal, three assists and a minus-3 rating in six games played.

Coming off a 70-point season in 2013-14, Duchene is set to improve his offensive output this season. He played in 71 games last season so if he is able to stay healthy, his numbers should increase in all the major categories. Duchene is set to be on Colorado's second line with Ryan O'Reilly and Jarome Iginla as well as seeing power play time with Gabriel Landeskog and Nathan MacKinnon.
