Devan Dubnyk G PHO 17 Hrs

Dubnyk turned aside 31 shots and got just enough help with a last-second overtime goal to deliver a 2-1 win over the Oilers on Tuesday.

Although Dubnyk's been outplaying Mike Smith, this was his first win since Nov. 22 for the sad-sack Coyotes. It's interesting that he's now started consecutive games, and after this dominant performance, it wouldn't be surprising to see Arizona roll Dubnyk out again Saturday in Los Angeles.

Dubnyk is in line to start Tuesday's game against the Oilers, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.

Dubnyk was the first goalie off the ice following the Coyotes' morning skate, which puts him on track to start Tuesday night. He will square off against an Edmonton team that has lost 15 of its last 16 games and has not scored more than two goals in a game this month.

Dubnyk stopped 32 of 35 shots he faced Saturday against Minnesota before getting beaten twice in the shootout to take a loss.

Dubnyk started for the third time in the past four games as starter Mike Smith has really struggled. Dubnyk hasn't been great in those starts, but he is playing better of the two right now and could be in line for more starts.

Dubnyk, who left the ice first during the Coyotes' morning skate, is confirmed to start Saturday's game against the Wild, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports. "I'm happy to get the opportunity and hopefully will help out in getting us out of this," Dubnyk said, referring to the team's four-game losing skid.

In an effort to find some semblance of effective goalie play, it looks like coach Dave Tippett has become resigned to alternating starts between Dubnyk and presumptive No. 1 starter Mike Smith. With a 2.74 GAA and .918 save percentage on the season, Dubnyk wouldn't seem to warrant additional opportunities, but that's a testament to how poorly Smith (3.35 GAA, .889 save percentage) has performed this season. Neither Dubnyk nor Smith look to be attractive starting options at this time.

Dubnyk is expected to start in net for the Coyotes, as he was the first off the ice, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.

Dubnyk has not played well lately, but either has number one goaltender Mike Smith. The Coyotes will square off with one of the stronger Western Conference teams when the Minnesota Wild visit the desert. We do not recommend Dubnyk as a great start, but if needed there are tougher lineup calls.

Dubnyk was pulled Saturday against the Bruins after giving up four goals on 24 shots.

Tough outing for Dubnyk, who falls to 5-2-1 on the season. The 28-year-old has now dropped two of his last three starts and has surrendered at least three goals in each of those games. While Mike Smith remains the No.1 goalie in Arizona, Dubnyk is still one of the better backups out there, with his .918 save percentage backing up that statement.

Dubnyk will start in goal Saturday against the Bruins.

With Mike Smith struggling of late -- he's recorded just one win in his last 10 outings -- head coach Dave Tippett will turn to Dubnyk for a spark Saturday. Dubnyk has gone 5-1-1 with a .243 GAA and .925 save percentage in limited action this season and could be in line for a larger share of the workload moving forward.

Dubnyk came on in relief of Mike Smith late in the second period of Thursday's loss to the Kings. He surrendered one goal on 23 shot attempts.

Despite not receiving much support from his defense, Dubnyk made more saves on the night than Smith, whose inconsistency hasn't quite cost him the top job yet. Dubnyk has been the better performer of the two this season, but it was just a season ago that he was playing arguably worse than Smith, resulting in his being traded two different times. Dubnyk seems to have landed on his feet in Arizona, but he still represents far from a reliable fantasy option on the occasions he receives the call to start.

Dubnyk gave up three goals on 29 shots in Saturday's loss to the Flames.

It was the first regulation loss of the season for Dubnyk, who drops to 5-1-1 on the year. Considering starter Mike Smith has lost a whopping seven straight games, it's very possible Dubnyk will see some more starts in the near-future. He has played well enough to be considered a reliable fantasy option whenever he gets the nod.

Dubnyk will be between the pipes for Saturday's game against the Flames, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.

Dubnyk has not started since last Saturday, but he has picked up the victory each of the last four times he has taken the ice. He will square off against a Calgary squad that currently sits fifth in the NHL with 3.00 goals per game.
