Brandon Dubinsky C CLS 25 Days

Dubinsky (abdomen) is not expected to be ready to play in either of the Blue Jackets' games over the weekend, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.

Dubinsky first returned to the ice Monday following a recent setback in his recovery from abdominal surgery, so he'll still need several more practices to get back up to full speed. The Blue Jackets have dealt with a number of lengthy absences due to injury this season, but few have been more significant than Dubinsky's. While not an elite scorer, Dubinsky is sound in just about every phase of the game and will represent a welcome addition to Columbus' top-six once he's healthy.

Dubinsky (abdomen) appears to have suffered a setback in the rehab process, Shawn Mitchell of the Columbus Dispatch reports.

Dubinsky was targeting Tuesday's game against the Red Wings for a return, but is reportedly taking a break from skating, and is considered week-to-week. The update we received from head coach Todd Richards couldn't have been more vague, but it seems safe to rule him out for Tuesday at this point.

Dubinsky (abdomen) continues to target a return to the lineup Tuesday against the Red Wings.

Dubinsky, who was ruled out for six weeks after undergoing abdominal surgery Oct. 8, skated with the Blue Jackets' strength and conditioning coach Saturday morning before taking part in the team's optional practice. It appears he's making progress with each passing day, and coach Todd Richards said the club is viewing him as a day-to-day.

Dubinsky underwent abdominal surgery Wednesday and will be out for approximately six weeks.

Dubinsky's mysterious placement on injured reserve Tuesday finally has a concrete explanation behind it, as it appears the forward might have suffered the injury over the weekend. While the Blue Jackets are fortunate to have Ryan Johansen (contract dispute) back in the fold for Thursday's season opener, the absences of top-six forwards Dubinsky, Boone Jenner and Nathan Horton will force the team to rely on an armada of rookies to keep the offense humming in the early going.

The Blue Jackets placed Dubinsky (lower body) on injured reserve on Tuesday, and he is out indefinitely, Shawn Mitchell of The Columbus Dispatch reports.

The news keeps getting worse for Dubinsky, who has gone from "nicked up" to "out indefinitely" in the span of a couple hours. The Blue Jackets have not provided any other details regarding Dubinsky's injury, so it's difficult to offer an accurate estimated return date at this point.

Dubinsky will not play in Thursday's season opener due to a lower body injury, Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch reports.

The nature of Dubinsky's setback is uncertain, but it prevented him from practicing Tuesday, and will keep him off the ice for Thursday's opener. Dubinsky is considered day-to-day, so he could be able to play in the Blue Jackets' second regular season game Saturday.
