Pavel Datsyuk C DET 29 Days

Datsyuk (groin) has been ruled out from playing Saturday against the Maple Leafs, Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News reports.

There was some hope that Datsyuk might suit up Saturday after he was able to get in a skate Thursday morning, but it appears the forward still needs some additional time to get back to full health. He'll miss his third straight game with an injury and turn his attention to returning Monday against Ottawa.

Datsyuk (groin) skated on his own after Thursday's morning skate, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.

Datsyuk was ruled out from playing Thursday against the Jets, but his involvement on the ice in some capacity suggests he could be eyeing a return to the lineup Saturday against the Maple Leafs. The center would likely have to get in a practice Friday or take part in Saturday's morning session before he's deemed ready to go.

Datsyuk (groin) wasn't on the ice for morning skate and appears set to miss Thursday's game against the Jets, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.

Though Datsyuk is traveling with the team on their two-game road swing, he probably won't be a lineup option for the Red Wings until he resumes skating with the team. The groin injury has proven bothersome to Datsyuk all season, but hasn't hindered his production when he's been healthy enough to play. Datsyuk has five goals and 11 points over 10 games.

Datsyuk will travel with the Red Wings to both Winnipeg and Toronto, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Datsyuk hasn't been placed on injured reserve, meaning he is likely close to returning. The fact that he is on the road trip with the team further indicates that. He returned last Friday but likely suffered a setback as he missed Tuesday's contest. It may be an injury he will need to battle with throughout the season.

Datsyuk (groin) will not play in Tuesday's game against the Blue Jackets, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.

Datsyuk was unable to participate in Tuesday's morning skate, so he will be replaced in the lineup by Dan Cleary on Tuesday night. It remains to be seen if he will be able to play in either of the two games remaining on the Red Wings' current road trip that ends Saturday.

Datsyuk (groin) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jackets, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.

Datsyuk is still dealing with the same groin injury that has been nagging him all season, which is a bad sign for the aging center. Groin injuries have a tendency to linger for a long time, so the Wings might be best served to sit him down until he's 100-percent again.

Datsyuk (groin) will play in Friday's game against the Blackhawks, according to Chuck Pleiness of the Macomb Daily.

Datsyuk skated on the Red Wings' second line with Tomas Jurco and Justin Abdelkader during the team's morning skate, and Jurco confirmed after the session that the three would line up together Friday night. Datsyuk, who has tallied five goals and five assists in just eight games this season, will suit up Friday for the first time since Nov. 5.

The Red Wings will determine whether or not Datsyuk (groin) will play Friday against the Blackhawks following their morning skate that day, Ted Kulfan of the Detroit News reports.

After he was able to return to practice Wednesday, Datsyuk expressed optimism that he'd be ready to go in time for Friday's game, though the Detroit medical staff understandably wants to check up on him after the morning skate before clearing him for a return. The veteran center has been sidelined for the previous two games with the injury, but given his impressive play when healthy this season, he should be immediately reinserted in fantasy lineups if he receives the green light to suit up Friday.

Datsyuk (groin), along with all of the other Red Wings' skaters, was on the ice during practice on Wednesday, MLive's Ansar Khan reports.

Datsyuk has missed the Red Wings' last two games, but is hopeful to return for their next game on Friday against the Blackhawks. Before he got injured, the 36-year-old center had put up good offensive numbers, scoring five goals and five assists in eight games played this season.
