Datsyuk was scheduled to miss the last two contests followed by an evaluation again Saturday. It appears that evaluation wasn't as promising as first hoped, and he'll sit another one out Sunday. His next chance to rejoin the lineup will come Tuesday against the Coyotes. Riley Sheahan is the top candidate to dress in his place once again Sunday.

After taking a look at Datsyuk, the doctors should be able to reach a decision on the forward's availability for Sunday's game against the Blues. Datsyuk will sit out a second consecutive game Friday in Tampa Bay, allowing Riley Sheahan to earn another outing on the team's second line.

Datsyuk is nursing a lower-body injury and will miss the Red Wings' next two games, set for Thursday and Friday, Chuck Pleiness of the Macomb Daily reports.

Datsyuk likely sustained the injury at some point during the Red Wings' back-to-back set over the past weekend, as he logged well below his normal amount of ice time in both contests. At this juncture, coach Mike Babcock doesn't believe Datsyuk's injury is more than a day-to-day situation, as he may only need a few days off before returning to action as soon as Sunday against the Blues. Riley Sheahan is expected to slide into a top-six role during Datsyuk's absence.

That's consecutive multi-point outings for Datsyuk as he's now recorded at least two points five times in his last 12 contests. The 36-year-old is on his best scoring pace in over five years, and with seven more goals he'd top the 30-goal mark for the fourth time in his career.

Datsyuk has been on an impressive run of late with three goals and five assists over his last seven games, but in truth, he's been fantastic all season. Since missing the first couple weeks with a shoulder injury, Datsyuk has mostly been a paragon of health, while maintaining his usual elite production offensively. He's on track to finish with more than a point per game scoring average for the seventh time in his illustrious career.

The heater continues for the Magic Man, who has now ripped off six points in the last two games and 14 in his last 10. Wih 49 points in 47 games, Datsyuk is proving at the ripe age of 36 that as long as he's healthy, he's still simply one of the best players in the game.

He's just one goal away from the 20-goal mark and has recorded at least one point in 11 of his last 15 outings. Datsyuk isn't known for recording a high number of shots on goal, but he's scored four times in his four games, firing a whopping 18 shots on goal in that span. Producing at a point-per-game pace this season, Datsyuk is an automatic roll every game.

Goals have been scarce for the forward since the beginning of the new year, but Datsyuk has still picked up points with enough regularity to make himself playable in just about any format. With his health cooperating for the most part this season, another 60-point showing should be in store for Datsyuk.
