Brandon Saad LW CHI 12 Days

Saad remained hot Saturday, extending his point streak to four games with a goal and an assist in a win over the Predators.

Saad continues to thrive on the top line with Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa, recording three goals, five points, and a plus-4 rating in his last four games. After a somewhat inconsistent start, Saad has found his groove, recording at least one point in all but six of his last 17 games. The 20-year-old is on track for a 20-goal, 60-point season and is worth a look right now, especially considering the fact the red-hot Hawks have won six straight games.

Saad scored the game-winning goal with 27 seconds left in regulation Friday against Montreal.

Saad is now riding a three-game point streak, compiling a goal, two assists, and a plus-2 rating in that span. Although he has been inconsistent at times, Saad has still delivered five goals and 17 points in 26 games on the season. With the Blackhawks having won eight of their last nine contests, picking up a top-six forward like Saad might not be a bad idea.

Saad picked up two assists and was a plus-3 in Saturday's win over the Oilers.

The top line of Saad, Jonathan Toews, and Marian Hossa was electric Saturday, combining for eight points in the win. After going through a brief rough patch, Saad has been consistently producing of late, recording two goals and eight points in his last 10 games. While his three goals on the season are somewhat disappointing, Saad is still on pace for almost 60 points and will start scoring more if he continues playing with Toews. A career year is in store for the rising 22-year-old.

Saad scored in the first period on Friday against the Caps -- his first goal in nine games in the Blackhawks' 3-2 loss.

This is a big chance for Saad as he is being targeted by the Hawks to pick up some of the scoring slack with Patrick Sharp out of the lineup with a knee injury for the next few weeks. If he plays like he did Friday night for the rest of the season, he should easily top last season's 19 goals and 28 assists in 78 games. He has two goals and seven assists in the first 13 games so far in the 2014-15 season. Against Sunday night's opponent, San Jose, he has some success with three goals and two assists in six games.

Saad opened the scoring Tuesday against the Flyers with his first goal of the year, then added an assist on Chicago's third goal in a 2:06 span.

While Saad is off to a point-per-game start this year with five in five, all of his points have come in two games while he's gone scoreless in the other three. He's highly talented, but he'll need to show more consistency to maintain anything resembling this scoring rate.

Saad dished out three assists in Saturday's win over Buffalo.

Saad also finished the night with four shots on goal and a plus-2 rating. With the way he has shown chemistry alongside Patrick Kane and Andrew Shaw on the second line, Saad could easily surpass the career-high 19 goals and 47 points he recorded in 2013-14. At only 21 years of age, the best is yet to come for this rising stud.

Saad finished the preseason with no goals and two assists in four games played.

The 21-year-old winger had a successful 2013-14 campaign, finishing with 19 goals and 28 assists. Saad is poised to surpass those totals this season while being paired on a line with Andrew Shaw and Patrick Kane. He will also see time on the second line of Chicago's power play, most likely with Andrew Shaw and Marian Hossa

Blackhawks forward Brandon Saad will be a restricted free agent after next season and is due for a huge raise to the $764,167 he's making on his entry-level contract.

Saad said there have been no talks about an extension yet. ''If it happens, great,'' he said. ''It's always nice to have that security and feel comfortable that you've re-signed. But I'm more focused on having a good year and contributing to the team. All that stuff will take care of itself.'' General manager Stan Bowman said that ''it's been a busy time for us'' and that Saad's situation will be addressed eventually. ''The exciting thing for all of us is that he just keeps getting better,'' Bowman said. ''We certainly haven't seen the best of Brandon Saad yet.'' Saad had 19 goals and 28 assists in 78 games for Chicago last season.

Brandon Saad had a very successful sophomore season.

Saad scored 19 goals and 47 points in 78 games in 2013-14, but he did even better in the playoffs with six goals and 16 points in 19 contests. "I think he's kind of taken his game up to that next level," Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman said. "He had a very good season in general; it wasn't just he past few weeks. But you're looking for, expecting him to kind of play up to that level starting next year." We wouldn't be surprised if he surpasses the 50-point mark in 2014-15 while getting plenty of time on one of the Blackhawks' top two lines.

Brandon Saad generated a goal and an assist in Game 7 of the Western Conference Final.

He opened the scoring against Los Angeles and set up Patrick Sharp's power-play goal in the second period to give Chicago a 4-3 lead heading into the final frame. However, the Kings came back and won the contest in overtime to send the defending champs packing. The 21-year-old winger appeared to be getting stronger as the playoffs went on and coach Joel Quenneville was impressed. "We like (Saad's) progress," said Chicago's bench boss. "He's a young kid (and) his upside is definitely big." Saad ended the postseason with three goals and four assists over a four-game point streak to finish with 16 points and a plus-10 rating in 19 contests.
