Matt D'Agostini said he missed the last three games due to a sprained wrist he suffered in practice.

D'Agostini is schedule to be a restricted free agent this summer, but Lou Lamoriello was coy when asked whether the Devils would tender their mid-season acquisition. D'Agostini is unlikely to have much fantasy value next season outside of very deep leagues.

Matt D'Agostini will not play Saturday afternoon against the Rangers.

Devil coach Peter DeBoer indicated that D'Agostini is dealing with some sort of undisclosed injury. If for some reason he is on your fantasy team, sit him Saturday.

Matt D'Agostini confirmed that he's fine after absorbing a hit to the head from Tampa Bay's Nate Thompson on Friday.

The NHL suspended Thompson for two games for his actions. "I still haven't seen the hit. Obviously they thought it was a hit to the head. All I know is I was looking down for the puck and I got hit," D'Agostini said. "So I can't comment too much on it. Your head gets knocked from time to time. I think my head took a little bit of a hit, but I haven't seen it. I was fine."

Matt D'Agostini will shift into Ilya Kovalchuk's place on New Jersey's top line Monday night when the Devils take on Ottawa.

Kovalchuk is slated to miss two to four weeks with a shoulder injury, so D'Agostini will skate alongside Adam Henrique and Andrei Loktionov. "Any time there's injuries that obviously creates opportunities for other guys," he said. "So, it's not just me that's going to be looked upon here to fill Kovy's spot. It's going to have to be a group effort and share the responsibilities. We know we've got to pick up the scoring and stuff like that. We've got the depth on the team to fill a spot like that."

The Devils are hoping Matt D'Agostini thrives with a fresh start.

The 26-year-old has just two points on the year, but he did have 21 goals and 25 assists in a breakout 2010-11 breakout campaign. "He certainly hasn't had the year he has had in the past but we certainly know enough of him as a player,'' said general manager Lou Lamoriello, adding D'Agostini adds depth and flexibility. "We got a lot of information on him. He's a scorer. We feel comfortable he can give us some strength on the right side. He has the ability to play third line, second line. "(It's) also a new life (for D'Agostini). Sometimes people get a jump-start and he's excited to be here."

Matt D'Agostini and a conditional seventh-round draft pick in 2015 have been traded to New Jersey in exchange for a conditional fourth- or fifth-round draft choice in 2015.

He has played in only 16 games with the Blues this campaign. D'Agostini had 21 goals and 46 points in 82 contests in 2010-11, but he hasn't been able to rediscover that touch. He'll get a fresh start with the Devils.
