Logan Couture is questionable for Thursday's contest versus Winnipeg.

"I'm going to take warm-up, I think, at least that's my plan, and see how it feels then," Couture said. "Probably 50-50." He sat out Tuesday's game in Edmonton after he blocked a shot against Calgary on Monday. The decision to play or not sounds like it will be left up to him.

He has been out of action since Jan. 5 with a broken hand. Couture had four goals and one assist in five games prior to getting hurt. He has 35 points in 43 games this year and his injury probably cost him a spot on Team Canada for the Winter Olympics. "Last night, it was difficult going to sleep just thinking about how exciting it is to get out and play in an NHL game again," he said on Thursday morning. "It feels like I haven't played in like three years." It won't take long for him to make up for lost time and have a strong finish to the season.

Sharks coach Todd McLellan says center Logan Couture (hand) is working toward returning from his injury in the next four games, which are all at home and start with today's contest against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Couture, who was expected to need three to four weeks of recovery time after he had surgery Jan. 8, took part in a lengthy skate in the hours before Wednesday's 3-0 loss to Edmonton. "If he can do it, we'll be really excited and we'll welcome him back with open arms," McLellan said of Couture. "But I can tell you we will not put him in a situation where there's any risk at all of him reinjuring it or, putting him in a situation where another body part gets injured because he's not completely ready to play."
