Smith potted his sixth power-play goal of the season in Saturday's win over the Kings.

That's 22 goals and 40 points in 70 games for Smith, who is also sporting a plus-11 rating. The second-liner has been held off the scoresheet just three times in his last 10 games, making him a safe and reliable fantasy option. Sitting among the top-40 NHL goal-scorers, Smith is a solid sniper who can be depended on in most fantasy formats.

Smith failed to crack the scoresheet in Monday's 2-1 OT win over the Coyotes; however, he did register five hits and four shots on goal.

Smith still has 12 points in his past 13 games, so don't be too discouraged by this one-game blip. He is once again thriving on the Preds' top line alongside Mike Ribeiro and Filip Forsberg, so keep him rolling.

Smith netted his 20th goal of the season in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Wild.

Smith is on track to fall short of last year's career-high total of 52 points, but he's at least in the midst of his hottest run of production of the season. He's accumulated six goals and two assists in his last seven games, making him a trendy waiver wire addition in recent days.

Smith scored a pair of goals -- one on the power play -- Tuesday in a 5-1 victory over the Sharks. That's his second straight two-point effort following an eight-game scoring drought, though Smith's season numbers are still lingering below last year's level. He'd need 21 points in the 25 games the Preds have left to match last season's 52-point output.

Smith snapped his eight-game scoring slump with a goal and an assist on Saturday night. He now has 15 goals and 14 assists in 56 games this season. The Preds bolstered its offence last offseason and Smith hasn't had to be the go-to guy this season. And he hasn't. He's well off his 52-point pace from last year. This is just his fourth season and it remains to be seen if he's actually falling into a high-low, high-low annual production cycle. Keeper leaguers will keep watch on that; single year owners may find other options.

Smith extended his current scoring drought to eight games during Thursday's 3-1 win over the Jets.Back in December, with James Neal out of the lineup with an injury, Smith was promoted to the top line alongside Mike Ribeiro and Filip Forsberg, and the move paid off with Smith notching five points in six games to close out the month. Since then, however, he's shown little chemistry with his new linemates, recording just seven points (3G, 4A) in 19 games since the start of January. Ribeiro and Forsberg, meanwhile, have been on fire, with 15 points apiece over that same stretch. The good news is, the Preds are winning games, which may be prompting coach Peter Laviolette to avoid tinkering with his line combinations too much. As such, Smith's spot on the top line appears safe for now, but he may wind up getting bumped to a lower line if his cold streak continues. Monitor closely.

Smith potted a power-play goal and added a power-play assist in Tuesday's win over the Canucks, snapping a three-game scoreless skid.

He'd had just three power-play points -- all goals -- this season prior to Tuesday's game, so this is a big one for Smith, who's seen his stats lag this year despite the Predators' wild success. He still owns a pretty modest 24 points in 42 games, putting him on pace to finish in the mid-40s, which would represent a step back from last season's 52. Essentially all of the deficit has been in assists, as Smith has only 11 of those to accompany his 13 goals; he finished with more assists than goals in each of his first three NHL seasons, so that'll probably flip back by the end of this campaign.

Smith tallied his 12th goal of the season and attempted six shots over his 17:32 of ice time in Sunday's loss to the Ducks.

Smith was elevated to a top-line role for the Preds' two weekend contests while James Neal was out with a lower-body injury, notching a point in each match. Neal's ailment isn't believed to be a long-term concern at this point, but Smith may be worth a pickup on speculation alone. He had shown some signs of heating up prior to his top-line promotion, tallying four goals an assist in his preceding six games.
