Redmond has agreed to a contract with Red Bull Munich in Germany's top pro league for next season, Bill Hoppe of the Olean Times Herald reports.

The 31-year-old spent the last three seasons with Buffalo's minor-league affiliate, racking up 41 goals and 127 points across 183 AHL contests over that span. The organization will miss the veteran's leadership that he displayed since coming over in a trade from Montreal, as Redmond was a mentor to some of the Sabres' top prospects. Redmond has accumulated 38 points across 133 NHL appearances in his career.

Redmond was reassigned to AHL Rochester on Thursday.

The journeyman performed admirably upon his recall Tuesday, finishing with a plus-2 rating, one hit, and two blocked shots in just over 14 minutes of ice, but is returning to the minors due to Nathan Beaulieu (upper body) and Josh Gorges (lower body) nearing game readiness. Redmond will remain a recall option for the Sabres throughout the season, though he shouldn't ever be given much consideration when putting together a fantasy lineup.

The Texas native gets his first call-up of the season in the wake of an injury to Josh Gorges (lower body), who is now on injured reserve. Redmond has never topped 59 games or 20 points in a given season, so fantasy owners should look in a different direction for help on the virtual blue line.

Redmond will report to Buffalo's AHL affiliate in Rochester after being acquired from Montreal in exchange for Nicolas Deslauriers on Wednesday.

Now entering his seventh professional season, Buffalo will be getting a 130-game NHL veteran that is reliable in his own end and can provide a little bit of offense, as well. Redmond will begin 2017-18 in the minors as a top-pairing defenseman for Rochester and is likely be the Sabres' first choice for a recall in the event of an injury to one of their current blueliners.

Redmond was waived by the Canadiens on Monday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.

This has been a recurring theme for Redmond given the number of defensive players ahead of him on the depth chart. If he clears waivers, the blueliner will be assigned to AHL Laval but should be on the shortlist for call-ups throughout the season.

The game got out of hand early as the Canadiens scored six times in the first period, so third-pair defenders like Redmond and Nathan Beaulieu were given plenty of shifts. Both finished with a plus-4 rating. Redmond, who returned to availability from a foot injury earlier this week, should be active most nights as fellow Michigan native Greg Pateryn (ankle) will be out until early February.

Both Redmond and Nathan Beaulieu (neck) will be returning for the upcoming contest, which is good timing as the Habs are now faced with an apparent foot injury to Greg Pateryn. Of course, Redmond has yet to play a game this season, making it difficult to assess what kind of impact he'll have on the contest. He's known to be smooth on the blades and quite mobile, but hasn't drawn into more than 59 games (2014-15) or topped 20 points in a single campaign.
