Gustav Nyquist RW DET 7 Days

Nyquist scored for the fourth straight game and added an assist in Friday's win over Toronto.

What a start for Nyquist, who now has 16 goals in his last 20 games, dating back to next season. He likely won't keep this ridiculous goal-scoring pace up, but if he remains on the top line and top power-play unit, there is no reason the Goose can't surpass the career-high 48 points he recorded last season.

Nyquist netted a goal in Wednesday's shootout loss to the Bruins.

The tally was Nyquist's third in as many games to start the season, and the young winger is proving that last year's line of 28/20/48 in 57 games was no fluke. Don't expect him to spend any time in the AHL this year either, as he has developed into one of the more potent offensive threats for an aging Red Wings squad.

Nyquist scored his second goal of the season in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Anaheim. He now has a goal in each of Detroit's first two games.

He had a strong second half last season and it looks like he's picked up right where he left off. Congrats to those of you who stashed him on your rosters -- your gut call was a good one.

Nyquist (knee) is expected to open the season on Detroit's third line,'s Ansar Khan reports.

Nyquist seems fully recovered from the knee injury he battled late in camp, but with the Wings relatively healthy at forward (with the exception of Pavel Datsyuk), the 25-year-old will have to settle for bottom-six duties for the time being. Last season's 28-goal performance should still carry a lot of weight for Nyquist, so it might not be long before he gets elevated to the second line.

Nyquist (knee) was on the ice for practice Tuesday, Chuck Pleiness of the Macomb Daily reports.

Even if he's limited in the final preseason contests, Nyquist appears to be on track to play Opening Night, but it sounds like there is a good chance he'll be back on the ice for game action before then.

Nyquist is suffering from a sore knee, Ansar Khan of reports.

It looks like the Red Wings avoided another serious preseason injury, as Nyquist expects to skate within the next few days, and is not in danger of missing the start of the regular season. Nyquist had a breakout year in 2013-14, racking up 28 goals and 20 assists in 57 games, and will be expected to fill part of the scoring void left by the injured Pavel Datsyuk (shoulder) to start the season.

Nyqvist, who suffered an undisclosed injury in the final minute of Saturday's game, "looks like he will be OK", according to Ansar Khan. However, Nyqvist will be evaluated on Sunday.

The Wings are counting on Nyqvist to step in a fill the early-season void left by Pavel Datsyuk's absence due to injury. Wings' general manager Ken Holland says the team will know more Sunday; let's hope that "OK" means a day or two, and not a month or two.
