Barrie registered a goal and a power-play assist in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Panthers.

Barrie's fantasy utility has declined a bit this season along with shooting rate, as a sharp dropoff in goals has muted some of his impact. Even so, with 28 points in 45 games, Barrie is still on track to surpass the 38 points he posted in 2013-14. The 23-year-old should remain one of the better fantasy blueliners for seasons to come.

Barrie dished out an assist -- his 20th of the season and second in as many games -- in Friday's 2-1 shootout win over the visiting Oilers.

Prior to Wednesday's game against Philadelphia, Barrie had just a measly three points in 12 December games to go with a minus-7 rating, but he's put together two strong games since, going plus-3 with five SOG and the aforementioned two apples. Barrie is a diminutive, shifty, offense-first defenseman -- similar in profile to the Ducks' Sami Vatanen or the Wild's Jared Spurgeon -- who has managed 23 points in 38 games on a terrible Avs team this season, so if an owner gave up on him in your league, we'd suggest you grab him ASAP.

Barrie recorded an assist in Friday's win over the Oilers.

Barrie has assists in back-to-back games, but it's still probably not enough to make amends for his empty production prior to that. He endured a stretch in December where he scored just one point in 10 games, during which he posted a cumulative minus-7 rating.

Barrie led all Avs players with three points in a 5-2 win over the Stars on Saturday.

With three assists and a plus-3 rating, Barrie now has 18 points in 24 games with an even rating this season. Though undersized as a defenseman, Barrie's offensive abilities are difficult to contain as he continues to emerge as the Avs' top offensive defenseman. Barrie played a team high 23:44 and now has six points in his past six games. Despite eight power play chances, Barrie picked up only one power play point. He's a must-have for fantasy owners.

Barrie scored his second goal of the year in Thursday's loss to Washington, pushing his point streak to three games.

After a so-so start to the year, Barrie's been pouring it on lately -- he's on a point-per-game pace over his last six contests. The goal was his first in nearly a month, but Barrie does enough shooting that he should approach double digits as the year wears on.

Barrie grabbed a pair of assists and went plus-2 in Thursday's shootout win over the Rangers.

A relatively slow start to the season has led into some more consistent production by Barrie lately, as he's got four helpers and a plus-3 rating in his last six games. However, after scoring 13 goals last year, Barrie's stuck on one so far this year among his 31 shots.

Barrie collected a trio of assists in Friday's win over Vancouver.

After a slow start, Barrie has cranked up the offense, recording a goal and four assists in his last three games. Skating on the Avs' top power-play unit, Barrie should surpass the career-high 38 points he recorded in 2013-14.

Barrie scored a goal on the power play in a 4-3 OT loss to the Panthers on Tuesday.

The goal was his first of the season, and third overall point through seven games. Barrie likely won't put up incredibly high numbers in those categories, but his use on the team's power play unit should increase his value.

Barrie and the Avalanche came to terms Thursday on a two-year, $5.2 million contract, Adrian Dater of the Denver Post reports.

While the Avs' ample talent at forward rightfully commanded most of the attention in their emergence as a Western Conference power last season, Barrie's contributions for the team didn't go unnoticed. Despite appearing in only 64 games, the 23-year-old broke out with 13 goals in 2013-14, the most by an Avs defenseman in seven seasons. Now recovered from a sprained MCL that ended his playoffs prematurely, Barrie's stock should begin to pick up some momentum in fantasy drafts.

Tyson Barrie will be a priority signing for the Avalanhce this off-season.

The 23-year-old rearguard, who is a restricted free agent, led the Avs in goals (13) and points (38) from the blueline, and anchored the team's power play. Barrie is a budding star and is sure to get a healthy raise.
