Clowe (concussion) will play in Thursday's exhibition game.

Clowe missed the first portion of training camp after recovering from a concussion suffered in late March, but he returned to practice a couple weeks ago, and is now ready to make his preseason debut. Barring any unexpected symptoms over the next few days, it seems likely that Clowe will be available for the Devils' season opener.

Clowe (post-concussion) is practicing, but has not yet played in any of the team's preseason games.

Clowe continues to train with the team but has not played in a preseason game as of yet and has been impressing. "He actually looks great," said Devils goal Peter DeBoer. "He's taking contact. He will get in some games here. No setbacks, it's just there's no sense in rushing this."

Clowe (concussion) has been cleared for full participation in training camp, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Clowe doesn't expect to be thrown into preseason action right away, but the fact that he'll be able to more or less fully participate in training camp has to be a relief for the Devils, who will take a $4.85 million cap hit on the forward for the next three seasons. Still, there's no guarantee Clowe can return to the 40-point per season level, especially while he remains at extreme risk for suffering another debilitating concussion.

Clower (concussion) underwent tests for post-concussion syndrome on Tuesday and should be ready for training camp.

Devils GM Lou Lamoriello said the exams were "very positive" and expects that "everything is on track for him to be at camp." Clowe sustained several concussions last season while scattering, rather unevenly, 26 points over 43 games and expects to be in the lineup on Opening Day. Clowe will see some top-six minutes while in the lineup, but his inconsistency and propensity for injury do not make him the safest pick.

Clowe skated at the Devils' informal practice Thursday, noting he was "feeling pretty good" as he continues to recover from a season-ending concussion, Tom Gulitti of the Bergen Record reports.

Clowe hopes to receive clearance to return to the ice for full contact by the start of training camp, but he'll first have to visit a concussion specialist early next week before an official decision is made on his status. The 32-year-old has suffered three or four concussions over the last calendar year, which could make him more vulnerable than most to future head injuries if he returns to action too quickly. While Clowe did produce when he played last season (26 points in 43 games), the health risk he presents may make it worthwhile to steer clear of him on draft day.

Ryane Clowe (concussion) is 'fine' according to Devils GM Lou Lamoriello.

Clowe should be fine for the start of the 2014-15 campaign, but his recent history of concussions makes him a significant injury risk going forward. He had 26 points and 33 penalty minutes in 43 games in 2013-14.

Ryane Clowe missed the last seven games of the regular season with a concussion.

"I'm feeling O.K.," Clowe said. "There's no real situation, I guess. Now, that the season's over there's no pressure or anything to play or get back. It's not like there was anyway, but it always helps to take that stress off yourself so you don't worry about. But, a few months off here and go from there." He hasn't resumed exercises yet. Clowe recorded seven goals and 26 points in 43 games this campaign.

Devils GM Lou Lamoriello thinks Ryane Clowe (head) will return before the end of the 2013-14 campaign.

"I have no reason not to think so," Lamoriello said. "I think I've answered everything the best I can. The doctors say he's fine, so we'll see. I can't answer any questions other than what I know." Clowe won't play on Tuesday and should be regarded as day-to-day.

Ryane Clowe (head) didn't travel with the Devils to Buffalo for Tuesday's contest.

New Jersey Devils GM Lou Lamoriello called Clowe "day-to-day" despite also saying that he's "fine." If Clowe has a concussion, and the Devils haven't suggested that he does, then it would be his second of the season and third since the start of 2013.

Ryane Clowe suffered a potential head injury during Monday's 6-3 win over Florida.

Clowe appeared to hit his head when he was smashed into the boards by Florida's Quinton Howden late in the second period. He left the game and didn't return. The Devils weren't able to update his situation immediately following the game. He missed 32 games with a concussion earlier this season.
