Spurgeon (illness) has been ruled out of Tuesday's game against the Blackhawks, but hopes to play Wednesday against Boston, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Spurgeon was able to skate Tuesday morning, so assuming he endures no recurrence of ill symptoms overnight, he could be ready to go for Wednesday. The blueliner's illness is a case of the stomach flu, so he's seemingly not at risk of falling victim to the mumps epidemic that has previously afflicted five Wild defensemen.

Spurgeon will not play Tuesday against the Blackhawks, Kent Youngblood of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports.

Spurgeon is still dealing with the stomach flu, and won't travel to Chicago for Tuesday's game. The good news is that he apparently doesn't have the mumps, so he should be able to return later in the week.

Spurgeon, who missed Saturday's game against the Coyotes, has the stomach flu, the St. Paul Pioneer Press' Chad Graff reports.

Teammate Charlie Coyle had the same bug earlier in the week. The important news here is that it's not the mumps, and it sounds like Spurgeon could be back on the ice for a game as early as Tuesday.

Spurgeon (illness) will not play Saturday against the Coyotes.

The Wild are listing him as out with an "illness," so it is not immediately clear whether this is related to the mumps outbreak that has plagued the NHL recently. Perhaps the team will release more information after the game, but for now Spurgeon is considered day-to-day. Minnesota's next game comes Tuesday at Chicago.

Spurgeon recorded an assist in his 22:30 of ice time Tuesday versus the Islanders.

Since returning from a broken hand on Nov. 13 with a one-goal, eight-shot game, Spurgeon hasn't been especially active offensively. He's failed to net a goal and has picked up only two assists over his last 11 games, taking some steam out of what looked like a potential star-making season.

Spurgeon (shoulder) bagged a goal and fired off a team-high eight shot attempts in a whopping 29:27 of ice time in his return to action Thursday against the Sabres.

Spurgeon saw only three seconds fewer than NHL average ice time leader Ryan Suter, a rather high minutes count for a player coming off injury against a feeble opponent. If nothing else, it demonstrated that coach Mike Yeo is comfortable with where Spurgeon is on the health front despite having missed the previous two weeks of action. As his ample production illustrates, Spurgeon showed no ill effects from the heavy workload, picking up right where he left off prior to suffering the injury. The 24-year-old has three goals and four assists over 10 games and appears to be in the midst of a breakout season. He's certainly worth an add in any format in the event his previous owner dropped him while he was on injured reserve.

Spurgeon (shoulder) was activated from injured reserve Thursday.

Spurgeon will rejoin Ryan Suter on the Wild's top pairing Thursday against the Sabres, after missing just under two weeks of action with the shoulder issue. His return to the lineup comes at especially vital time for the Wild, who will be without Marco Scandella and Jonas Brodin on Thursday and possibly longer, while both deal with suspected cases of the mumps virus.

Spurgeon (shoulder) is considered probable to play Thursday against the Sabres, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.

Spurgeon earned the probable designation by participating in Wednesday's optional practice, showing seemingly no ill effects from the shoulder injury that he sustained Oct. 30 against the Sharks. The Wild will likely evaluate him after Thursday's morning skate as a final check before activating him from injured reserve. Spurgeon's return would provide a huge boost to the Wild's blue line, as he seemed on the cusp of a career-best season prior to suffering the injury. He tallied two goals and four assists to go along with a minus-7 rating over his first nine games.

Spurgeon (shoulder) could return to the lineup Thursday against the Sabres, Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

Spurgeon got in a hard skate at Tuesday's morning session, which represented enough progress for coach Mike Yeo to suggest that he hasn't been ruled out as an option for Thursday's game. The Wild will likely see how Spurgeon performs in Wednesday's practice before making any determination on his playing status.
