Daniel Cleary RW DET 9 Hrs

With Tomas Jurco still out, Cleary should be back in the lineup Tuesday, Ansar Khan of MLive reports.

Cleary has two points in 11 contests this season, as he has not been in the lineup unless injuries have occurred. Jurco should be back later in the week, so Cleary's time in the lineup may be short-lived.

Cleary assisted on a late goal in Tuesday's 5-0 victory over Columbus to get his second point in four games.

Cleary played less than nine minutes, but did pick up a point in the process. Cleary has really only played when Pavel Datsyuk has missed time, so when Datsyuk returns, Cleary will likely go back to being a healthy scratch.

Cleary will make his season debut Wednesday against the Rangers, MLive.com reports.

Chronic knee issues cost Cleary the second half 2013-14, but he has been a healthy scratch for the Red Wings' first 12 games of this season. With the team coming off back-to-back losses, coach Mike Babcock has decided to tweak his lineup, inserting the 35-year-old Cleary in for Tomas Jurco. Cleary has notched 164 goals, 221 assists and 486 penalty minutes in 921 career games.

Cleary is expected to serve as a healthy scratch in Thursday's opener against the Bruins, MLive.com's Ansar Khan reports.

The Red Wings brought Cleary back on a good-faith deal in the offseason, but he provides most of his value in the locker room rather than on the ice. If he's not a regular healthy scratch for the Red Wings most nights, he'll be little more than a fourth-liner.

Cleary says his knee problems are behind him and he's ready for a bounceback campaign after his worst season with the Red Wings, MLive.com reports.

Cleary signed for less to stay with Detroit but didn't end up doing much, with only eight points in 52 games. Cleary was a fairly strong producer for the Red Wings for several years, but at 35, is more of a veteran depth winger.

Daniel Cleary wants to prove those that question his contract wrong.

Cleary agreed to a one-year deal worth at least $1.5 million and up to an additional $1 million in bonuses. That's significant given how much he's declined in recent years. His 2013-14 campaign was another low for him as he had just eight points in 52 games. "You want to prove people wrong," said Cleary. "My main objective is get healthy and play the way I know I can. Last year was a tough year." He might do a bit better this season if he can stay healthy, but we wouldn't count on him having any fantasy value in standard leagues.

Daniel Cleary is hoping to bounce back in 2014-15.

Cleary inked a one-year deal with the Detroit Red Wings after recording just eight points in 52 games last season. "My program has been one of loyalty, and there's good things and bad things that go with that," Red Wings GM Ken Holland said on re-signing Cleary despite his struggles. "Way more good, in my opinion. I reached out to a lot of people before signing Dan, and he's very popular in our organization and with our on-ice leaders." Perhaps Holland will be rewarded for taking a chance on Cleary, but we doubt it. We think Cleary's days as a reliable secondary scorer are over.

The Detroit Red Wings are talking with Daniel Cleary about a contract extension.

Cleary had just eight points in 51 games in 2013-14, so he probably won't get much out of the Red Wings. In fact, it's believed that Detroit might only offer him a two-way deal.

There's a chance that Daniel Cleary (knee) could be done for the season.

He hasn't played since Jan. 28, but several of those absences were the result of him being a healthy scratch.
