Bouma (face) was on the ice for Friday's morning skate, Randy Sportak of the Calgary Sun reports.

Coach Bob Hartley said that the Flames are still pondering a number of game-time decisions for Friday's tilt with the Blue Jackets, so despite his presence at morning skate, there's no guarantee Bouma will suit up for the game. A concussion has already been ruled out for Bouma, but his facial injuries could still be bothersome enough to send him to the press box for a second straight contest.

Bouma has a facial injury and will not play Wednesday, the Calgary Sun's Randy Sportak reports.

It was reported earlier today that he would take the ice Wednesday, but his status apparently changed. He does not have a concussion, but the facial injury will hold him out and he should be considered day-to-day.

Bouma (upper body) is okay and will play Wednesday, Randy Sportak of the Calgary Sun reports.

Bouma suffered the minor injury Tuesday after taking a hit from Paul Gaustad, but it appears that it won't be enough to keep him out Wednesday. Assuming nothing gets aggravated in the game, he should be fine going forward.

Bouma signed a one-year contract with the Flames on Wednesday.

Bouma is coming off his first full season in the NHL, in which the center supplied five goals and 10 assists over 78 games. The 24-year-old probably has room to grow as a scorer given his relative youth, but he may not amount to more than a second- or third-line center at his peak.

Lance Bouma was happy to hear that Don Cherry called him "my type of guy."

Cherry was praising Bouma for his work ethic and blocking shots. "It's a pretty cool feeling because you grow up watching him, and you respect what he's saying as a kid," Bouma said. "To have him mention your name and talk good about you, that means a lot. That's pretty cool." Bouma has five goals, 14 points, 144 hits, and 67 blocks in 62 games this season.

Lance Bouma had a big game Saturday in the non-traditional stats as he blocked five shots and had three hits.

Bouma is third among NHL forwards with 64 blocked shots, trailing only Boyd Gordon who has 77, and the outstanding Ryan Getzlaf who sits at 71. "Lance was great at the two ends," coach Bob Hartley said. "Lots of blocked shots defensively and offensively, he had quite a few chances. As many chances as he's going to get, that's how he's going to improve offensively and find a way to get us some big goals." Bouma has five goals and 12 points this season with 37 penalty minutes in 60 games.

Forward Lance Bouma is the Calgary Flames' most improved player, coach Bob Hartley says.

"This guy didn't play last year - knee surgery," Hartley noted. "We saw him in the gym, working every day. He showed up to camp in great shape, which was absolutely no surprise to us. He's one of the first guys on the ice at practice. Game day, same thing. He's committed to getting better. He wants to be an NHL player. He's a gritty player willing to block shots. I have lots of time for Booms. His progression is far from a surprise." Now in his first full season in Calgary, Bouma has 10 points in 48 games.
