Cizikas (foot/ankle) missed practice Friday, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.

The Islanders were calling it a maintenance day for Cizikas, and it may very well be, but he did have to leave the game Thursday after blocking a shot. He is expected to make the trip to Detroit for the game Saturday but is expected to be a game time decision.

Cizikas contributed an assist in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Rangers. He also won 13 of his 18 faceoff attempts.

Cizikas has done well to win over half of his draws in the faceoff circle this season (51.6%), but his absence of scoring has sapped him of fantasy value. He's only produced four goals and seven assists in 43 games this season, which still puts him on pace for a career-best scoring total.

The Islanders activated Cizikas (upper body) off IR on Monday.

With Michael Grabner sidelined with a lower body injury, Cizikas will slide back into the lineup on the team's bottom six for Monday's game against the Devils. The center recorded four goals and four assists in 26 games before getting hurt.

Cizikas (upper body) will not return from injured reserve for Saturday's game against the Blackhawks, Newsday's Arthur Staple reports.

Cizikas was able to practice Friday and took part in the Islanders' optional morning skate Saturday, but the team apparently wants to give him some additional time to recover. Monday's game against the Devils could represent a reasonable target for Cizikas' activation.

Cizikas (upper body) practiced Friday.

Cizikas had been skating on his own the previous two days, and his return to practice only offers further hope that his stay on injured reserve will be a brief one. He won't be eligible to return for Saturday's game against the Blackhawks, but could be activated immediately after.

Cizikas (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, with a retroactive date of Dec. 6.

The IR placement will keep Cizikas out of the lineup for at least the next three games, as he won't be eligible for activation until Sunday. The Islanders haven't provided a clear recovery timetable for the fourth-line center, who has notched eight points in 26 games this season.

Cizikas (upper body) won't play Tuesday versus the Wild, according to Newsday's Arthur Staple.

Cizikas didn't make the trip to Minnesota so he is still suffering the consequences of getting hit up high with the stick of Vladimir Tarasenko. Although the Islanders have not released a timetable for his return he is not expected to be out long term.
