Anaheim defenseman Cam Fowler has not enjoyed the type of season he had hoped for, but the Ducks continue to consider him a big part of their future.
Fowler was signed to a five-year, $20 million extension prior to the season, which shows the amount of faith the team has in his ability, and coach Bruce Boudreau believes it's important to keep the young blueliner's confidence high. "It's a really fine line," Boudreau said. "I've used the difference between a rut and a groove. It's only a foot and a half from a pat on the back to a kick in the (rear). And that's what you just got to do." Fowler has registered only eights points, all assists, in 33 contests this year, which could make him a great buy-low candidate next season.
