Brett Connolly RW TB 16 Days

Connolly potted a pair of goals in Monday's 6-3 win over the Rangers.

Connolly had not recorded a point since the middle of October after being forced out of action for 12 games with a lower body injury. He now has four goals, matching a career-high. He may be able to set another personal best if he can get more than 15 points, but he won't add much more than that.

Connolly (lower body) will be back in the lineup Thursday against the Maple Leafs, Joe Smith of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Connolly cleared the final hurdle for his return by participating fully in the team's morning skate, where he was slotted on the fourth line with Brenden Morrow and Brian Boyle. The 22-year-old had two points in eight games prior to miss the team's last 12 contests with the lower-body ailment.

Connolly will miss his 12th straight game Tuesday night, but he feels he is ready to play, and hopes to be able to do so Thursday.

Connolly (lower body) was able to skate again Friday and logged full participation in team drills.

Coach Jon Cooper said after the workout that he plans to have Connolly available at some point during Tampa's upcoming three-game road trip, which begins Monday in New York against the Rangers. It appears it's safe to consider the forward day-to-day at this point, though he'll miss his 10th straight game Saturday versus the Islanders.

Connolly (lower body) joined the Bolts for their morning skate Thursday, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.

Connolly had previously been limited to skating on his own as of last week, so it indicates progress that he's now joining his teammates. He still probably shouldn't be upgraded from week-to-week to day-to-day until he resumes practicing with the team in full, something that could materialize in the next few days if Connolly experiences some more progress with his recovery.

Connolly (lower body) has begun some light skating on his own but still isn't considered close to a return, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.

Connolly originally suffered the injury Oct. 25 against the Jets and was considered week-to-week. He has seen very limited time in the NHL the past two seasons, spending most of the 2013-14 campaign at AHL Syracuse, where he scored 21 goals and 36 assists. So far this season, the 22-year-old winger has scored two goals and no assists over eight games.

Connolly (lower body) could be out several more weeks and possibly more than a month, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.

Details of Connolly's setback remain uncertain, but it does not sound like he will be playing any time soon, and his absence could stretch into September.

Connolly suffered a lower-body injury in Friday's game against the Jets and is considered week-to-week, Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune reports.

The 22-year-old Connolly seemed to be on the cusp of a breakthrough in his first eight games of the season, notching two goals while seeing time on the team's second line. However, it looks like the injury will present an unfortunate roadblock for him to build on those early successes, as Connolly figures to miss the next several games. Michael Blunden and Jonathan Marchessault were recalled from AHL Syracuse on Saturday to provide the Bolts with some extra forward options while Connolly remains unavailable.

Connolly potted his second goal of the season in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Oilers.

It was nice to see the 2010 sixth overall pick find twine for the second time in five games, but he really hadn't done much else in between (no points, one shot, plus-1 in three contests). Tampa is loaded with bright young talent, anchored by superstar Steven Stamkos, veteran Valteri Filppula and sophomores Ondrej Palat and Tyler Johnson, so Connolly will need to find the offensive consistency that has eluded him in three NHL seasons if he hopes to earn a more prominent role in coach Jon Cooper's lineup.

Connolly scored his first goal of the season in Saturday's shootout loss to Ottawa.

He only saw 8:37 of ice time, so it's clear the Bolts aren't entirely sold on him being a top-nine guy just yet. We're hoping to see more of a spark soon -- this guy has real potential if he can amp things up to the NHL level.
