Anders Lindback G DAL 28 Days

Anders Lindback has signed a one-year contract with the Dallas Stars for $925,000.

Lindback will back up Dallas starter Kari Lehtonen and may play 25-30 games. He could play more if the injury-prone Lehtonen, as he usually does, misses considerable amount of time.

The Lightning will not give Anders Lindback a qualifying offer.

Lindback will become an unrestricted free agent July 1. General manager Steve Yzerman said that Lindback will still be considered. He'd require an offer equal to $2.2 million. "We are going to look and see what is out there, but (Lindback) is on the list," Yzerman said. Lindback had a 8-12-2 record, 2.90 goals-against average and .891 save percentage for the Lighting this past season.

The Lightning are still considering re-signing Anders Lindback.

The team has been busy signing its restricted free agents in recent weeks, but no deal has been struck with the back-up net minder. "He's still in the mix," general manager Steve Yzerman said. "They understand what I'm trying to do at this point and he's still a guy we're considering signing for next year." Lindback posted a 8-12-2 record, 2.90 goals-against average and .891 save percentage this past season, while earning $2.2 million

Anders Lindback disappointed his team yet again, allowing three goals on 20 shots before getting the hook in Game 4's loss to Montreal on Tuesday.

The Bolts were a different team with Lindback tending the pipes instead of the injured Ben Bishop, who put together a Vezina calibre season that led the team to the playoffs. The 25 year old Lindback went 0-3 in the playoffs with a .881 save percentage and 3.91 goals against average.

Anders Lindback will play between the pipes on Tuesday.

With Ben Bishop hurt, the Lightning have been forced to go with Lindback in their first round series against Montreal. Lindback has a 3.49 GAA and .888 save percentage in three straight playoff losses and consequently Tampa Bay is in danger of being eliminated Tuesday night.

Lightning goaltender Anders Lindback stopped 28 Montreal shots Sunday night but allowed a relative softy on the first shot he faced, and the Canadiens went on to prevail 3-2.

Lindback, playing in place of injured first-stringer Ben Bishop (elbow), is now 0-3 in the postseason; Tampa Bay is down 0-3 to the Canadiens in the teams' first-round, best-of-seven playoff series. Lindback let down the Lightning only 11 seconds into Sunday's game when he failed to stop a fairly easy wrister from Montreal's Rene Bourque. The Canadiens never trailed in the game. Lindback is not only 0-3 in the series but also has an unimpressive GAA of 3.49 and a save percentage of .891.

Anders Lindback will start on Sunday after being pulled in Friday's game.

Lindback isn't an ideal playoff starter, but Tampa Bay doesn't have a lot of options with Ben Bishop hurt. The alternative to Lindback would have been Kristers Gudlevskis, who had just one game worth of NHL experience before he replaced Lindback late in Game 2.

Anders Lindback simply was not good enough on Friday night, allowing three goals on 23 shots before getting pulled during the Bolts' Game 2 loss to Montreal.

Kristers Gudlevskis finished the last nine minutes of the game, allowing a goal on three shots. Lindback has now allowed eight goals in Tampa's two playoff games. Injured starter Ben Bishop took shots from the goalie coach on Friday morning, and the Lightning are hoping he will be back for Sunday's Game 3. The Lightning are now down 2-0 in the series, while Lindback has proven to be a poor option in goal coming off a regular season where he went 8-12-3 with an .891 save percentage.

Anders Lindback is expected to start on Friday.

No surprise there given that Ben Bishop is still dealing with an elbow injury. Lindback turned aside 39 of 44 shots in Montreal's 5-4 overtime win against Tampa Bay on Wednesday.

With Ben Bishop (left elbow) not expected to be healthy anytime soon, the Lightning will have to rely on Anders Lindback to defeat Montreal.

The Bolts' backup did a very good job Wednesday night keeping his team in the game by kicking out 39 of 44 shots, but he is going to have to do better if the Lightning hope to get by the Canadiens in the first round.
