Oliver Ekman-Larsson D PHO 2 Days

Ekman-Larsson scored a shorthanded goal, his 13th of the season, Thursday in a win over the Leafs. He was plus-1 and took eight shots in the game.

Leafs goalie Jonathan Bernier would like to have this one back, as OEL scored on a dump in from his own blue line, but they all count. While his point total on the season is a bit disappointing, Ekman-Larsson leads all defensemen in goals this year, including eight on the power play, and ranks second in shots. On a brutal Coyotes team it's tough to complain about that production.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson D PHO 13 Days

Ekman-Larsson scored his 12th goal of the season Sunday in a shootout loss to the Jets. He took five shots and added a hit in the contest.

While OEL's season overall can be considered a disappointment with just 21 points and a minus-14 rating, he is tied for the lead in goals among defensemen. With the Coyotes' season effectively lost there could be changes coming in the desert, but Ekman-Larsson should be one of the building blocks they keep.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson D PHO 20 Days

Ekman-Larsson will represent the Coyotes at the 2015 All-Star Game in Columbus.

OEL is arguably having a poorer season than last year overall, but he leads NHL defensemen in goals with 11 and, other than perhaps Keith Yandle, there isn't anyone else on the Coyotes who should be there ahead of him.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson D PHO 22 Days

Ekman-Larsson registered a goal on his four shot attempts in Thursday's win over the Jets. He also doled out five hits defensively.

The goal was OEL's 11th of the season and eighth on the power play, both of which lead all NHL defensemen. His minus-12 rating remains something of an anchor, but it's one that fantasy owners can cope with due to the immense point production he provides.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson D PHO 23 Days

Ekman-Larsson scored a power play goal Thursday in a win over the Jets. He was plus-1, with two PIM, four shots, five hits, and two blocks in a solid all around effort.

OEL now has 11 goals on the season with six of his last seven points coming via bulging the twine. His 19 points on the season have him just behind last year's pace and, while his minus-12 rating is disappointing, he has recovered from a slow start to the year. He has seen points in his last 11 games.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson D PHO 28 Days

Ekman-Larsson made his presence known on both ends of the ice in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Blue Jackets, tallying a power-play goal and assist while laying five hits.

OEL has been a drain the plus/minus category of late, but the Coyotes' improved play of late has allowed him to make progress in that regard, as he's now at an awful, yet more palatable minus-12 for the season. Even if he doesn't notice much dramatic improvement in that category from here on, he'll be forgiven if he can continue to score at a lofty rate. He's been doing just that of late, tallying six goals in December and opening January on an equally high note.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson D PHO 1 Month

Ekman-Larsson scored the Coyotes' lone goal, his eighth goal of the season, on the power play Monday in a blowout loss to the Canucks. He was minus-1, with two PIM, four shots, and a hit in the loss.

Ekman-Larsson doesn't have the overall point total (16 points in 33 games) some were expecting at this point in the season, but his eight goals rank tied for fifth among defensemen and he has a healthy nine points on the power play. He remains one of the top young defensemen in the NHL.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson D PHO 2 Months

Ekman-Larsson scored a goal with one second left in overtime Tuesday, delivering a 2-1 win over the Oilers.

Well, that's about as clutch as they get. Ekman-Larsson fired off an impressive eight shots in this one and has three points in the last two games, but is still sitting on a relatively modest 15 points in 31 games to go with a minus-12 rating for the season, so he's been well short of the elite status we expected after last season's 15-goal, 44-point bust-out.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson D PHO 2 Months

Ekman-Larsson scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's loss to the Wild.

He's off his pace from last season, but that's not much of a surprise given the Yotes' struggles this season. This is a great opportunity for dynasty owners to try to secure him in a trade. His owner might be a bit frustrated and you'll get a consistent (future) 50-plus point player. It's work asking. You never know what you might get.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson D PHO 2 Months

Ekman-Larsson scored his fourth goal of the season on the power play Monday in a win over Edmonton. He was plus-2 and took four shots.

Ekman-Larsson has had a tough season, especially in the plus/minus column, but his scoring pace is also below his performance last year. He has been getting lots of pucks on net (on pace for 250 shots), so more goals (and offence) may be coming.
