Oliver Ekman-Larsson D PHO 4 Days

Ekman-Larsson scored a goal with one second left in overtime Tuesday, delivering a 2-1 win over the Oilers.

Well, that's about as clutch as they get. Ekman-Larsson fired off an impressive eight shots in this one and has three points in the last two games, but is still sitting on a relatively modest 15 points in 31 games to go with a minus-12 rating for the season, so he's been well short of the elite status we expected after last season's 15-goal, 44-point bust-out.

Ekman-Larsson scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's loss to the Wild.

He's off his pace from last season, but that's not much of a surprise given the Yotes' struggles this season. This is a great opportunity for dynasty owners to try to secure him in a trade. His owner might be a bit frustrated and you'll get a consistent (future) 50-plus point player. It's work asking. You never know what you might get.

Ekman-Larsson scored his fourth goal of the season on the power play Monday in a win over Edmonton. He was plus-2 and took four shots.

Ekman-Larsson has had a tough season, especially in the plus/minus column, but his scoring pace is also below his performance last year. He has been getting lots of pucks on net (on pace for 250 shots), so more goals (and offence) may be coming.

Ekman-Larsson grabbed an assist on a power-play goal Sunday in a win over the Capitals. He took four shots and was minus-2 in more than 30 minutes of ice time.

Ekman-Larsson is having a season reminiscent of his teammate Keith Yandle with eight points and a minus-13 rating in 11 games. The plus/minus masks that he is logging more than 25 minutes per game (seventh in the NHL) and driving offensive play for the Coyotes. He should approach even as the season boas on, while the boost in scoring should be for real.

Ekman-Larsson was credited with an assist on the Coyotes' lone goal in Thursday's loss to the Panthers.

Ekman-Larsson's seven points and 35 shot attempts in nine games rank among the top of the heap among defenseman, but his NHL-worst minus-11 rating has been a huge handicap on his productivity. While not contenders by any means, the Coyotes probably have enough talent on their roster to finish outside of the league's cellar, which should allow Ekman-Larsson to improve on that plus/minus as the Coyotes face easier competition. He could get some immediate relief in Arizona's next game Saturday against Carolina, the league's only winless team.

Ekman-Larsson scored his second overtime-winning goal of the season in Saturday's win over the Panthers.

Just another day at the office for the 23-year-old stud, who has scored both of his game-winning goals on the power play. Through seven games, Ekman-Larsson has tallied two goals and five points, while logging a whopping 26:00 of ice time. The only negative being the fact he currently sports a minus-7 rating on the year. He's money on offense, however, delivering in clutch fashion this season.

Ekman-Larsson scored the overtime-winning goal on a power play in Saturday's win over the Kings.

It was a thing of beauty from Ekman-Larsson, who walked in from the point and put a perfectly placed wrist shot past Jonathan Quick. Ekman-Larsson, who finished with a game-high eigh shots on goal, has now recorded a point in each of the Coyotes two games thus far. After scoring 15 goals and 44 points as a 22-year-old last season, the sky is the limit for this elite defenseman.

Ekman-Larsson has been playing on a defensive pairing with Keith Yandle the last few days of training camp, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.

Though a left-handed shooter, Ekman-Larsson has been playing on the right side of the pairing as the Coyotes entertain the idea of uniting their top minute men. Because both Ekman-Larsson and Yandle profile as offensive-leaning defenseman, arranging the two together could result in some hairiness on the back end, but the duo might offset that with the boost they'd give to the team's attack. Moreover, pairing up the duo would allow them to sync up on the power-play, bolstering that unit even further. The arrangement strictly remains in trial mode right now, but if it ends up materializing during the regular season, Ekman-Larsson could notice a surge in his scoring opportunities.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson registered his 13th goal of the season Monday, but the Coyotes dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to the Rangers.

His 13th tally ties his career-high, set in the 2011-12 season, and gets him to the 40-point mark for the first time as an NHLer. Jeff Halpern and Kyle Chipchura also scored for the Desert Dogs in the defeat.
