Oliver Ekman-Larsson D PHO 3 Days

Ekman-Larsson had an assist on the power play Thursday in a 4-3 loss to the Rangers. He was plus-1, took two shots, and added two hits and a block on the night.

The assist ends a mini three-game slump for the young blueliner. OEL's plus/minus is a drag, but otherwise he is having a solid season. He is on pace for just over 40 points, while leading defensemen in goals; he has already set a new career high in shots with a new mark in hits likely to come; and, he remains a strong power play contributor. The Coyotes' rebuild could suppress his stats a bit in coming years, but that will hurt more in real life. At 23 years old, he is a stud defenseman for fantasy, regardless.

Ekman-Larsson scored his 17th goal Monday in a 5-2 loss to Colorado. The goal came on his only shot on net and he added four hits in the loss.OEL continues to lead all defensemen in goals as he approaches 20-goal plateau. He has five points in his last six games during a recent hot streak.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson D PHO 14 Days

Ekman-Larsson picked up an assist Saturday in a loss to the Rangers. He was minus-1 with four shots on net and three hits.OEL had a tough start to the year, but in 33 games since December 1 he has 13 goals, six assists, 8 points on the power play, a minus-1 rating and is averaging 3.5 shots, 2 hits, and a blocked shot per game, which are fantastic numbers for fantasy owners. Things will get tougher in Arizona if the team jettisons some veterans to rebuild, but OEL is a building block that the Coyotes and fantasy owners can count on.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson D PHO 20 Days

Ekman-Larsson assisted on both of Arizona's goals in Monday's 3-2 shootout win over the Blackhawks.OEL has been a beast from the back end of late, racking up eight points in the last nine games. Although they don't play together at even strength, he and fellow blueliner Keith Yandle have been superb for the lowly Coyotes, recording a combined 67 points this year. Imagine the possibilities if these guys played for a contender? Yandle is a likely candidate to get moved before the March 2 trade deadline, but since Ekman-Larsson is just 23 and considered a future franchise cornerstone, he isn't going anywhere any time soon.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson D PHO 22 Days

Ekman-Larsson continued his Cy Young season Saturday when he potted the Coyotes' only goal in a 3-1 loss to the Red Wings. He has 16 goals and 10 assists on the season, and four goals in his last six outings.

It's almost unheard of to have a defender score this many goals (BTW, his 16th was a new career mark), but even more unlikely for one to have significantly more goals than assists. He's also on pace to establish a new high in hits and he's developing into an elite-level defender. His future is very, very bright.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson D PHO 26 Days

Ekman-Larsson scored his 1t5h goal on the power play Tuesday in win over Columbus. He was plus-1, added five shots, and two blocked shots.

OEL leads defensemen in goals this year and he has now scored in three of his last four games and has points in four of his last five. He is a bright spot for the Coyotes in a tough season.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson D PHO 28 Days

Ekman-Larsson scored his 14th goal of the season Sunday in a win over Montreal. He was plus-1, took five shots on net, and added a hit and blocked shot in the contest.

OEL continues an interesting season of production as he leads NHL defensemen in goals, but has just 10 assists, which has him trailing his overall scoring pace from a year ago. He is going to be one of the main pieces the Coyotes will keep to build around if they start making rebuilding moves as the trade deadline approaches.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson D PHO 1 Month

Ekman-Larsson scored a shorthanded goal, his 13th of the season, Thursday in a win over the Leafs. He was plus-1 and took eight shots in the game.

Leafs goalie Jonathan Bernier would like to have this one back, as OEL scored on a dump in from his own blue line, but they all count. While his point total on the season is a bit disappointing, Ekman-Larsson leads all defensemen in goals this year, including eight on the power play, and ranks second in shots. On a brutal Coyotes team it's tough to complain about that production.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson D PHO 1 Month

Ekman-Larsson scored his 12th goal of the season Sunday in a shootout loss to the Jets. He took five shots and added a hit in the contest.

While OEL's season overall can be considered a disappointment with just 21 points and a minus-14 rating, he is tied for the lead in goals among defensemen. With the Coyotes' season effectively lost there could be changes coming in the desert, but Ekman-Larsson should be one of the building blocks they keep.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson D PHO 2 Months

Ekman-Larsson will represent the Coyotes at the 2015 All-Star Game in Columbus.

OEL is arguably having a poorer season than last year overall, but he leads NHL defensemen in goals with 11 and, other than perhaps Keith Yandle, there isn't anyone else on the Coyotes who should be there ahead of him.
