His new deal carries an average annual value of $2.65 million. Greening had eight goals and 19 points in 47 games last season with the Sens.

Playing in front of their home crowd for the first time in the series, the Sens avoided the dreaded 0-3 series deficit with the victory. Daniel Alfredsson's goal with 30 seconds remaining in regulation tied the score and forced the extra time.

Colin Greening was Ottawa's only goal scorer in a 4-1 loss to Pittsburgh in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals Tuesday night.
Erik Condra and Jared Cowen picked up assists on Greening's first marker of the postseason. Greening didn't have a point against Montreal in five games during the opening round. Cory Conacher ended up with four penalty minutes, while Mika Zibanejad, Milan Michalek and Marc Methot led the Senators with four shots on goal apiece.

Greening displayed some flashes of scoring ability last season, but he hasn't been able to produce much in the shortened season. He has two goals and five points in 16 games so far. Dave Dziurzynski and Andre Benoit, whose first NHL goal was the game winner, also found the back of the net for the Senators.

"I'm quite frustrated with the way I'm playing and I have to try and get out of this and get back in the lineup," said Greening. "Sometimes, it's just the coaching staff and upper management trying to send a message to you and open your eyes. So, I will take it for what it is and try to take it as a positive and work my way back into the lineup." Greening has gone seven straight games without a point.
