Linus Omark signed with Lulea of the Swedish Hockey League on Wednesday.

"I was clear all the time that I didn't want to play in the AHL, that it wouldn't be good for both me and Rochester," Omark told Swedish newspaper NSD, which provided an English translation to The Buffalo News. "The team wouldn't have got anything from me. They understand that as well, so they let me go to Europe instead." He contributed just two assists in 13 games with the Sabres after he was acquired from Edmonton in December.

Linus Omark successfully cleared unconditional waivers.

That was expected. Omark refused to report to AHL Rochester after he cleared waivers earlier this month. The Sabres and Omark are now expected to terminate his contract so he can play in Sweden.

Linus Omark has been placed on unconditional ($125) waivers by the Buffalo Sabres.

This will lead to the mutual termination of his contract. Omark refused to report to AHL Rochester after he passed through waivers earlier this month. He reportedly wants to play in Sweden.

Linus Omark wants to return home to play in Sweden.

He would rather return to the Swedish Elite League than play in the minors with Rochester. Omark is trying to ink a deal with Lulea. The Sabres have to consent to such a move and negotiations are ongoing.

Linus Omark did not report to AHL Rochester after clearing waivers and being assigned to the squad.

This isn't a matter of Omark being on an Olympic vacation. It's possible that the 27-year-old might try to get out of his contract with Buffalo. He has eight goals and 32 points in 79 career NHL contests.

Linus Omark is expected to suit up against his former Edmonton teammates Monday.

He's been a healthy scratch for Buffalo's last three games and six of the club's past eight. "So far it hasn't worked out too well, but maybe this time it will," interim coach Ted Nolan said. "We want to see what everybody thought he was capable of doing when they drafted him and he came in this league. He's a highly skilled player, but as we know skill can only get you so far." Omark has generated two assists in 11 games with Buffalo since being acquired from the Oilers. "We want to see him play with a little more grit combined with that skill set.

Linus Omark will probably be back in Buffalo's lineup Tuesday night.

He has been a healthy scratch for the team's previous two games. Omark skated on a line with Cody Hodgson and Steve Ott during Monday's practice. "It's an opportunity if I play with those guys," he said. "I have to produce." Omark has no goals and one assist in nine games with the Sabres.

Linus Omark was a healthy scratch Wednesday.

He went from getting some power-play work on the point of the second unit to the press box to give the Sabres some toughness against Toronto. John Scott dressed in Omark's place.

Linus Omark practiced Monday on the point of Buffalo's second power-play unit.

He saw some action there in Sunday's shootout win over Washington, so it looks the experiment will continue. "He did pretty well. He has a set of skills that very few have," interim coach Ted Nolan said. "We've just got to get him to do less skills and more finish, but he's doing well." The Sabres rank dead last in the NHL with only 71 goals and they sit 28th overall on the power play, so they should be more than willing to try new things. Omark has one assist in eight games since being acquired from Edmonton.
