Daniel Carcillo LW PIT 16 Days

Carcillo professional tryout contract with the Penguins on Thursday.

After splitting last season between the Kings and Rangers, Carcillo will look for work with the organization that originally drafted him. He'll audition for a role on the Pens' checking line, but is unlikely to post the lofty hit or PIM totals to make him a viable fantasy option.

Daniel Carcillo will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

It is likely that the Rangers will allow him to go as they already have an enforcer in Derek Dorsett. If the Rangers trade Dorsett, then Carcillo could return as he will have a role to fill. Carcillo missed the Stanley Cup Final as he was given a six game suspension for abusing an official in the Conference final and was a healthy scratch the final two games against the Kings when he was eligible to return.

Daniel Carcillo will reportedly not be in the Rangers' lineup on Wednesday.

Carcillo is eligible to return after serving his six-game suspension. He has experience overcoming a 3-0 series deficit, but he's also been used sparingly in the playoffs, so this isn't a big surprise.

Although Rangers coach Alain Vigneault wouldn't confirm that Daniel Carcillo would return to the lineup on Wednesday, he did praise the forward.

"He would bring what he's brought to us all year long, is a real good energy," Vigneault said of Carcillo. "He's been in these situations before. He's been a good player for us. If we do use him tonight, I'm sure he'll be ready." Carcillo was part of the 2010 Philadelphia Flyers squad that overcame a 3-0 deficit. He hasn't been allowed to play in the Stanley Cup Final until now because he was serving a suspension.

Rangers coach Alain Vigneault wouldn't tip his hand when it came to his lineup for Game 4 on Wednesday.

Daniel Carcillo is eligible to return after serving his six-game suspension, but it looks like we won't know for sure if he'll play until the pregame warmups. He has two goals and 22 penalty minutes in eight playoff games.

Daniel Carcillo is one of the few players that has been part of a team that's overcome a 3-0 series deficit.

Only four squads have ever accomplished that feat, including his 2010 Philadelphia Flyers. "That team, it was a different group of guys," Carcillo said. "No team is the same. It's the same feeling that we have in this room, that we can always come back, we can always win a game as long as we have time on the clock. I don't really want to go back four years and compare. It comes down to believing and executing a game plan. They (the Kings) are not unbeatable." Carcillo hasn't been able to play yet in the Stanley Cup Final because he was serving a suspension, but he's available for Game 4.

Daniel Carcillo praised NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and the league for their handling of his suspension appeals process.

Carcillo got his 10-game suspension reduced to six games, which means he's eligible to return form Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final. He's being punished for physically abusing an official. The league justified reducing his suspension because they felt his actions fell into a less severe category than it was initially listed in. Unlike many other league rules, the suspensions for abusing an official come with mandatory minimums and changing which category his offense fell under brought the suspension from a mandatory minimum of 10 games to three contests. "I'm just really encouraged, and like I said, hopefully they don't need me, but it's nice to be able to be around the guys again," Carcillo said of his suspension being reduced.

Daniel Carcillo's 10-game suspension has been reduced to six games following an appeal.

Carcillo got an automatic suspension as a result of his abusing an official. The NHL's justification for lessening his punishment was that they ultimately felt he actually violated Rule 40.4 rather than 40.3 with the difference being that Rule 40.4 carries a minimum punishment of only three games. Rule 40.4 punishes players for using force against an official solely for the purposes of breaking free of them. Carcillo is now eligible to play in Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final.

According to John Shannon of Sportsnet, Rangers forward Daniel Carcillo should expect to hear from the NHL Tuesday regarding the appeal of his 10-game suspension.

Barring a reduction in the suspension by Commissioner Gary Bettman, Carcillo is slated to miss the Stanley Cup Finals in their entirety and will see his ban carry over into next season. He's not exactly an integral part of the Rangers' plans for the series so it will be interesting to see how big a role he'll play in the event he is cleared to play.
