Jake Muzzin D LA 14 Days

Muzzin collected a trio of assists -- one on the power play -- Thursday in a 5-3 win over the Senators, snapping a four-game scoreless skid.

The box score shows what has to be an erroneous minus-2 rating for Muzzin, as two of his helpers came at even strength, which would mean that he would have had to be on the ice for four Ottawa goals. That's tough to do when the opposing team only scores three times, so presumably a stat correction will come down the line at some point. Nonetheless, Muzzin continues to be a well-rounded fantasy asset, especially for deeper formats, contributing points at a steady pace with some power-play production, as well as plentiful hits and blocked shots.

Muzzin dished out two assists and fired off three shots in Saturday's 3-2 overtime win over the Ducks.

Muzzin was credited with secondary helpers on the Kings' final two goals of the game, allowing his team to exact revenge after the Ducks nipped them just days earlier in the Freeway Faceoff rivalry. The blueliner has been magnificent of late, after his delayed start to the season due to an upper-body injury resulted in him failing to provide a point over his first seven games. In his five contests since, Muzzin has potted a goal and assisted on six others.

Muzzin added two more helpers in Wedneday's 6-5 shootout loss to the Ducks.

Whew -- the 25-year-old has now ripped off five points in his last three games, firing nine shots on goal in the process. See if he's available on your wire before it's too late -- he plays on a very potent Kings squad and is seeing significant minutes at both even strength and on the power play.

Muzzin netted his first goal of the season and added an assist in a 5-1 win for the Kings on Saturday.

Muzzin's season got off to a late start due to an injury but he's now seeing heavy minutes for the Kings. He's recorded multiple shots on goal in seven of his nine games and it's just a matter of time before that starts to translate into production.

Muzzin picked up an assist for his first point of the year Thursday against the Isles.

It took him eight games to find the scoresheet, but Muzzin is a quiet breakout candidate after he fired 175 shots on goal over 76 games last year. He's seeing serious, career-high minutes for the Kings, and he's got the skills to turn those minutes into points.

Muzzin logged over 20 minutes of ice time in his return to the lineup Thursday.

Muzzin didn't factor into the scoring in a 2-0 win over the Sabres but was able to log some pretty heavy minutes in his first game back. He could see some extra time on the team's second power play until Slava Voynov's situation is resolved.

Muzzin (upper body) has been cleared to play Thursday against the Sabres, Elliott Teaford of the Los Angeles News reports.

Muzzin said he's not quite 100 percent healthy, but the Kings' medical staff determined his condition was good enough to take full contact in game action. The blueliner missed the team's first six games with the upper-body injury, which he sustained late in the preseason.

Muzzin (upper body) will visit a doctor Tuesday and is expected to receive clearance to play Thursday against the Sabres, Lisa Dillman of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Muzzin has been sidelined for the Kings' first six games with the upper-body injury, with the team giving no clear timetable for the blueliner's return until now. The Kings have resisted putting Muzzin on injured reserve while he dealt with the ailment, so no roster move will be required to bring him back in the fold. He's expected to rejoin the team's top pairing with Drew Doughty.

Coach Darryl Sutter said Muzzin (upper body) would receive an X-ray Thursday, Jon Rosen of LAKingsInsider.com reports.

The date would mark a full three weeks after he sustained the upper-body injury during preseason action against the Avalanche. Muzzin, who inked a five-year, $20 million extension with the Kings on Wednesday, has resumed practicing with the team, but has yet to receive clearance for a return to games. Thursday's examination should offer a better indication of when he might see Muzzin back on the ice.

Muzzin (upper body) signed a five-year, $20 million extension with the Kings on Wednesday, Chris Johnston of Sportsnet reports.

Muzzin hasn't appeared in a game this season due to an upper-body injury, but it's clear the Kings view him as a cornerstone player for both now and the future. The 25-year-old struggled in the early stages of last season, but he came up huge for the team in their run to the Stanley Cup, finishing second to only Drew Doughty in ice time during the playoffs. Once healthy, Muzzin is slated to rejoin Doughty on the top pairing, and should represent a capable producer at both ends of the ice.
