Zack Kassian RW VAN 5 Days

Kassian potted a power-play goal in Sunday's win over the Islanders.

Skating on the top line, Kassian has scored in back-to-back games and has recorded six goals and eight points in his last eight games. While he had a tough start, Kassian appears revitalized and could be worth a look in deeper leagues down the stretch. If he stays on the top line with the Sedin twins, there is no reason the 24-year-old can't keep producing.

If he sticks on the top line, the 24-year-old could be worth looking at in deeper formats. It's worth noting that last season after a slow start, Kassian went on to lead the team in second-half scoring. He has potential, but will need to remain in a top-six role to have fantasy value.

Irked after he was made a healthy scratch for three consecutive games earlier this month, Kassian returned to the lineup Feb. 7 and has responded with three goals, two assists, and a plus-3 rating over four contests. Kassian scored a goal for the third straight game in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Blackhawks.A healthy scratch for three games prior to his return to the lineup Feb. 7, Kassian seems to have reestablished himself as a regular player for the Canucks as a result of the scoring surge. He's benefited from some good fortune, though, as his three goals have come on only four shot attempts. That 75 percent shooting rate will come crashing down quickly, and so too will Kassian's scoring totals.

Kassian has been out of the lineup for fourth out of the last eight games and looks like he could be on the trade block for the Canucks. In an appearance on TSN 1040 radio Friday, GM Jim Benning discussed trade rumours involving Zack Kassian. "If something comes up where we think it's a good deal for us or something, then we'll do it if we make the organization better."

It hasn't been a good season for Kassian, who has managed just two goals and five points in 22 games. Kassian hasn't really worked out in Vancouver, recording just 24 goals and 48 points in 178 games over the course of four seasons. At only 23 years of age, the potential is still there for Kassian to become a key fantasy contributor. With the constant controversy and speculation he faces in Vancouver, however, it might be best for fantasy owners if Kassian gets dealt to a new location, somewhere he can get a fresh start. Currently stuck in a bottom-six role, it's hard for the youngster to produce given his limited minutes.
