Cammalleri (general soreness) was on the ice for morning skate and is thus on track to play Friday against the Penguins, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Cammalleri was held out of Thursday's practice as a precaution after feeling a little sore. The Devils never believed he was at risk of missing Friday's game, and his return to the ice in the morning seemingly verifies as much.

Cammalleri is nursing some soreness and was unable to practice Thursday, Chip Alexander of the Raleigh News & Observer reports.

The practice appeared to be optional, so it could be the case where Cammalleri was taking a maintenance day more than anything. However, because of the myriad injuries Cammalleri has dealt with the past two seasons, it's still worth following up on his status after Friday's morning skate just to be certain that he'll suit up for the game later that evening against the Penguins.

Cammalleri recorded a goal and added a power-play assist in Wednesday's win over the Kings.

The goal held up as the game-winner, Cammalleri's fourth of the season. An assortment of injuries have forced him to miss 12 games this season, but he still leads the team in goals (14) by a comfortable margin over Adam Henrique (10).

Cammalleri picked up a first-period assist and an empty-net goal Tuesday against the Sabres.

Although he has 13 goals on the year, the assist was just Cammalleri's fifth, and his fantasy value will remain fairly limited in shallower formats until he can find some more balance in his scoring.

Cammalleri (groin) was activated from injured reserve Tuesday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.

The activation will clear the way for Cammalleri to return to action Tuesday night against the Hurricanes, after he missed the previous four contests due to the groin pull. Despite being limited to just 23 games due to injuries this season, Cammalleri still ranks as the Devils' top goal scorer with 11. He's on tap for a top-line role with Scott Gomez and Jaromir Jagr.

Cammalleri (lower body) was on the ice for practice Monday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.

Cammalleri was placed on injured reserve Saturday so the team could recall Mike Sislo from AHL Albany. The combination of Sislo being sent back to the AHL and Cammalleri practicing could indicate he is nearing a return to the ice. Tuesday could be the next opportunity for him to return, followed by a three-day break before the Devils' next game Saturday.

Cammalleri (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Saturday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.

Since the IR stint is retroactive to last Saturday, the move means that Cammalleri will be unavailable for a fourth straight game. He continues to skate and is being viewed as day-to-day at this time, so despite the IR placement, it seems likely he'll suit up at some point next week.

Cammalleri (lower body) will remain out of the lineup Friday against the Lightning, Rich Chere of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.

Cammalleri created some optimism that he might be ready to play in games after he skated Thursday, but his absence from Friday's morning skate indicates that he will miss his third straight game. It could be the case where the Devils simply didn't want to use him for both ends of their back-to-back set, so he may not be ruled out for Saturday's tilt with the Capitals.

Cammalleri (lower body) skated on his own Thursday, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.

Cammalleri didn't participate in the Devils' optional practice later in the morning, however, which may prevent him from making his return to the lineup Friday against Tampa Bay. Friday will mark the first game of a back-to-back set in any event, so it's possible the Devils might prefer to save Cammalleri for Saturday's tilt with the Capitals, rather than having him play two games immediately upon his return from injury.

Cammalleri (lower body) wasn't present at the Devils' morning skate and doesn't look like he'll play Wednesday against the Senators, Tom Gulitti of The Record reports.

If that's indeed the case, it will be the second straight game that Cammalleri has missed, and his 10th overall on the season. Despite the extensive time missed, Cammalleri still ranks as the Devils' leading goal scorer by a rather sizable margin, which is probably more of an indictment of the team's lack of offensive talent. Fortunately, the return of Patrik Elias (groin) to the lineup Wednesday will help provide some cushion for Cammalleri's absence.
